Bond Custom Cues

Bond Custom Cues Custom Cues I've been repairing cues since year 2009 out of a mobile repair trailer I put together to support local tournaments. as well.

I made a few cues during that time for fun. As my "hobby" progressed, so did my desire to "open up" my abilities in building cues, so I bought a 4 axis CNC router. I started to cut inlays and build special jigs for my table saw to allow me to make my own 10 pie laminated shafts and 18 or 20 pie laminated alternating curly maple/cocobolo butts. My newest addition I'm building is my own spray booth

system that has an integrated 1100 watt UV light that cures the clear coat I'm using instantly when passed in front of it. Yes, I "radiate" my cues! This is the kind of finish used by high end, custom guitar and violin makers!

MAINTAINING YOUR TIP:

PART 2: SCUFFER

I use the Kamui Gator. There are alternatives to this brand that seem to work well. I've had mine for years.

Hold the scuffer against the tip as you roll your shaft with your other hand. I brace the cue against my foot while doing this. This tool is not intended to be used as sandpaper. By rolling the surface of the tip against the scuffing surface, the surface lifts the tip fiber allowing it to hold chalk again WITHOUT removing a bunch of tip material. To clean the scuffer simply slap it against you pant leg or a rag. This tool you will use the most.

The trimmer described in part 1 should only be used to take a little off the sides to maintain a shape, not surface.

MAINTAINING YOUR TIP:

I use two tools to maintain my tip.

1.) TIP SHAPER/TRIMMER
2.) TIP SCUFFER

PART 1: SHAPER/TRIMMER

I like the metal (not plastic) tool offered by Tweeten. This allows me to bend one end to a nickel shape and the other end to a dime shape. Using a downward motion only while turning the shaft, trim a little off the sides. Brace the cue with the outside of your foot.

There will be a little Burr left behind after a trim. Simply use a rag, pinch the tip, and give it a few twists. The Burr will disappear.

HOW TO STRAIGHTEN MOST WARPS IN WOODEN SHAFTS:

This tool is all you need. Goto your favorite hardware store and buy a threaded shank hook bolt and a tool handle. Assemble them.

How to use: roll your shaft so the warp curves towards the table (more light shows between shaft and table). Next, simple place the hook on your shaft and gently rub your shaft. Roll your shaft and repeat steps as necessary. Don't rub too hard or you will cause the warp go the opposite way.

These cues are the last of the brand new Dale Perry cues I have left to sell. I put leather wraps on some of the cues. If you would rather have leather instead of linen on any of the linen wrapped cues, just add the discouned price of $60, normally $100, to the price of the cue. Message me if you're interested.
