Friend,

We cannot begin to express how much we miss you already. The sun came up this morning and much more than anything we wished you could have been here to see it with us. You are and will be a member of our community and the fact that we did not see this makes us feel that we should have done so much better. We failed you. We are so sorry for your suffering and we are so sorry we did not see and we are so sorry we did not help.

We wish so profoundly we had heard you. We wish we had better ears to hear. This may not have been your place, but this place will be so different without you.

It is so hard to explain who you were because it is who you are. You are he and her and him and they and she while just being you. You are and will remain in our hearts the essence of a person.

For those who will not know you, you managed to be the softest voice in the room and yet command the most attention. You broke so many boundaries while still remaining true to you.

May your rest provide with the peace and solace that this life could not provide.
