Grain going into the mash tank is where the process really begins. Once hot water is added, enzymes get to work converting starches into fermentable sugars, creating the foundation for everything that comes next.

Fun fact:

Whiskey doesn't come out of the still amber.

It comes out crystal clear.

Virtually all of the color you see in whiskey comes from time spent in an oak barrel. As the spirit ages, it pulls color, sugars, and flavor compounds from the wood.

The longer it rests, the more character the barrel can contribute.

So the next time you see a deep amber whiskey, you're looking at years of interaction between spirit and oak.

Today marks a truly special milestone in Bear Creek Distillery history ā€” weā€™re celebrating the first employee ever to reach the 10-year mark with our company! šŸŽ‰ā¤ļø

If youā€™ve been around Bear Creek for any length of time, chances are youā€™ve crossed paths with Megan. Her journey is one of our favorite stories because it embodies everything we believe in: hard work, growth, dedication, and heart.

What started as a part-time job grew into a full-time career. Along the way, Megan became the face of our tasting room, led the charge as our Beverage Director, helped shape countless guest experiences, and played a huge role in making Bear Creek what it is today.

Megan, thank you for 10 years of commitment, grit, passion, laughter, problem-solving, and showing up day after day for this team, our customers, and our community. Your impact on Bear Creek Distillery is impossible to measure, and we are beyond grateful to share this journey with you.
