Do It In The Sand!

Beach Bums Sports Complex is a dream job for Dr. Robin Dale and Dr. Chris Fussell who have been playing volleyball for over 25 years each. Can you imagine a business where your job is to have fun and make sure everyone else is having fun also? Can you imagine playing the sports we love in the sand that makes us not hurt so bad as we are getting older. Can you imagine getting to drink and eat great food while hanging out with our friends? We have that dream as a reality at Beach Bums and we wish to be your break from reality. We are bringing you the best collection of sand sports in Louisiana with league play in Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, Dodgeball, and Spikeball. You will find our new offerings will be a blast and we cannot wait to be pioneers in the area for these relatively new sports.

Volleyball is the main focus of our facility and is where our roots are from with Laguna Beach Volleyball. We will have tournaments often that provide some of the most fun in the sun you can find at all different skill levels. We are excited to offer some new leagues that require no skills or knowledge of volleyball at all, such as our coed sixes no rules league. Our corporate leagues will also have relaxed rules so don’t be intimidated by the level of play on the main courts, not everyone can play perfect volleyball, we just want you to play. We don’t want the rules to get in the way of your fun, come check it out.

Tennis is the least obvious to understand. First of all, the ball cannot touch the sand. It is played with hard rackets that are like paddles and a softer tennis ball that doesn’t go as far. You will play on a doubles volleyball size court with no center or service lines. You can serve either opponent from behind the back line. The net is higher at 5’6”. One hit per side only.

Badminton is very similar to grass/indoor badminton but the court is just a tad shorter and you don’t have center or service lines so you can serve either opponent but must strike the birdie from below your waist to serve. The net remains at 5’0”. One hit per side only.
