Alright guys… I need your help figuring out what the heck I should do next. 😂
Most of you know me. I’ve been behind a bar for over 30 years. I know bars, I know people, I know how to pour a drink, and I’ve probably got more stories than anybody needs to hear.
So naturally… I decided I should open a restaurant. 😂
I really wanted to bring this place in Deer Grove back to life. I wanted to bring back the fried chicken, the memories, and a place people around here used to really enjoy.
We gave it a shot.
And I’ve learned a few things along the way.
One of them might be that I need to quit trying to be a restaurant guy and get back to what I actually know. 😂
Because here’s the thing…
I LOVE this building.
It’s a beautiful place sitting right here in the middle of farm country, and there is way too much potential here not to do something really cool with it.
We’ve already had some beautiful weddings here, and seeing this place all set up has really opened my eyes to what The Grove could become as a dedicated wedding and event venue.
Then there’s the bar side…
And that’s where I keep coming back to my roots.
I keep picturing a really cool old-school country tavern.
Cold b**r. Good drinks. A few gaming machines, pool tables , dart boards Maybe some simple food. Farmers stopping in after a long day. Friends meeting up. Good music. Good stories. And the kind of place where you walk in and usually know somebody sitting at the bar.
Nothing fancy.
Just a damn good little country bar.
But before I make any big decisions, I want to hear from all of you.
If this place was yours, what would YOU want to see out here?
🍺 An old-school country tavern? A great stopping spot for side-by-side’s, jeeps, motorcycles, snowmobiles.
💒 The Grove will be focused on weddings and private events.
🎶 Live music nights?
🥃 A cool speakeasy-style bar? Since the bar will continue to be on the backside of the building with the back parking lot.
🎉 Parties, benefits and community events?
Or something completely different that I haven’t thought of?
Tell me in the comments. Seriously. I want to hear it.
We’ve got a beautiful building, a blank canvas, and probably enough years behind a bar to know better than to open another restaurant. 😂
So help me out…
What would make YOU drive out to Deer Grove?
Thanks, Dave & Maddie
