John and Magdalena Bostyan, in pursuit of the great “American Dream,” migrated from Hungary in the early 1900’s to improve the quality of life for their family. From the coalmines of West Virginia to the factories in Ohio, the Bostyan’s were no strangers to hard work and sacrifice. With enough old backbreaking work and the new motivation of their newborn son named Stephen, in 1927, the Bostyans had saved up enough money to open up their own business known as the Ole Time Bar in West Dayton on Fifth Street and James H. McGee Boulevard.

1952, their son Stephen took over the family business and transformed it into a Hungarian restaurant called Gypsy Gardens which serves as the current location of Boston’s Bistro and Pub. Fast forwarding to the early 1980’s David Boston, the grandson of John and Magdalena Bostyan, is the current owner of Boston’s Bistro and Pub and has been committed to maintaining the same level of customer service, pleasant atmosphere, authenticity, and family heritage. In spite of name changes, locations, and the ups and downs in business over the years, the family business still remains a fixture in the Dayton community and has always been owned and operated by the Bostyan family.
