We are an Irish family from Dublin that immigrated to the United States. Starting on the East Coast and working our way west, we eventually decided to make Sacramento our official home away from home in 1984. The area has always been so good to our family, and we’ve always felt compelled to give back to it. So in 2009, we opened de Vere's Irish Pub in midtown Sacramento—a place where friends, fami

lies, and co-workers could come enjoy farm-to-table food, watch American and European sports, brunch all day, and try more whiskeys than most knew existed. When the opportunity to open another location in a university town like Davis, we couldn’t resist. To re-create the same experience Sacramentans had come to love for Davis’ students, professors, locals, and families, we went back to Ireland to have all the pub fixtures and furniture designed and built. (It’s true—everything was shipped in pieces across the Atlantic and then reassembled here!) We also filled our walls with family paintings, pictures, and antiques. Ultimately, we want you to experience all that Ireland has to offer, right here in Davis. That’s why we pride ourselves in our inventive food, friendly service, and of course, our 20-ounce pints of Guinness. Come taste the soul of Ireland, poured to perfection and curved to fit the palm your hand. That’s a wrap! We’ve come to a decision to not open this weekend. That’s all folks. Our team is spent and our shelves are bare.
Davis, wow. Just wow. Your support and love have been felt this last week. Thank you for sending us off with a bang!
Huge shout out to our team, front and back of house, for showing up and busting butt. We’ve been so blessed 🥲 and can’t thank you enough to waking the final miles with us.
We can’t find any more words, so we leave you with gratitude for a decade of memories with our community. Thank you. Thank you.

Davis! We will be opening today at 5pm! We are no longer serving food, we’ve run out because everyone has shown up with so much support to enjoy their favorite meals with us.
Our bar offerings will be limited, however we promise to make it a great Friday night.
If you would like to bring in a pizza or any to go food we are super cool with that.
We’ve been absolutely blown away by your support over the last few day. Come raise a pint and please bring your gift cards if you have any!

To say the last year and a half has been hard would be an understatement. We vividly remember closing the doors to our pub during the beginning of the pandemic- the quiet in Davis, the sinking feeling moving into the unknown, and our concern for our families, our teams and our communities. 
We all rode out that long stretch of time with a lot of hope still in our hearts. And then the time finally came to re-open! We gave the Pub a fresh coat of paint, brought back some of our beloved team and hired a new group of amazing people. We reopened and felt a ton of support from our customers and kept trying to chip away at the loss that was caused by the pandemic. 
At this point in the road, our 10yr lease has expired, and with all the current uncertainty in the universe, and our need to focus on future projects in Sacramento, we made the gut-wrenching decision not to sign a new lease. With a very heavy heart we are announcing that our Davis Pub will be closing following the end of service on Sunday October 3rd. We cannot thank our landlords enough for all their support over the years, especially throughout the pandemic. They were kind, understanding and flexible. de Vere’s has always been about the people. Not only the people we served but the people who worked at the pub. We have been so blessed to have such incredible teams over the years. It’s about the class reunions and retirement parties, the baby showers, Sunday brunches with friends, and the wakes for our dear lost loved ones. 
de Vere’s has been about helping people in our community through our philanthropic efforts, like the epic events and Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree golf tournaments, that raised millions to help fight childhood cancer and provide holiday cheer to children in need. We had great partnerships with the University, and who could forget the best St. Patrick’s Day and Picnic Day shenanigans ever! We will never forget the 4pm New Year’s toast to Ireland, the Whiskey Wednesdays, Dr. Andy’s Monday Night Pub Quizzes, and all the family graduation parties that filled our pub with so much joy. 
The pub was also our home away from home- home to family birthday parties, anniversaries, family gatherings, and our children’s voices echoing through the pubs, first as newborn babies, and later as boisterous big kids. For us, the pub will always remind us of the faces of our parents, our brothers and sisters, and all of you- friends who turned into family over the years.
 Thank you so much Davis for the incredible 10 years of memories. We wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.

It’s one of our favorite days of the week because…Mule Thursday has finally come!
We make our Mules with freshly juices ginger and that’s what sets them apart from the typical ginger ale or ginger beer made Mule.
Enjoy $16 Mule Pitchers starting at 7pm and choose from Vodka (classic) Irish Whiskey (our personal favorite 😉) or Rum!

Our Roasted Red Pepper Hummus is made with red bell peppers, radish, sesame seeds, olive oil, green onion and served with toasted pita triangles.
