Yesterday I told you how Dolly Parton inspired my magic. In her 2020 book, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics tells how she views her songs as "stories put to music," reflecting the "melody of her memories". Dolly Parton says each song she writes tells a story. COMIC SUPER STAR INVITED
TO DANVILLE'S HISTORIC NORTH THEATRE
Celebrity magician Wayne Alan and owner of the Historic North Theatre in Danville, VA, recently returned from Nashville where he attended the Society of American Magician’s National Conference. The conference honoree was magician Stephen Bargatze, a colleague of Wayne’s. His son, Nate Bargatze is one of the biggest comedians on the planet now. His present tour, “Nate Bargatze-Big Dumb Eyes World Tour” is selling out arenas all over the country. He’s expected to sell out all three shows at Madison Square Garden in September.

Stephen is often the opening act for his son Nate. One of Wayne’s goals for traveling to Nashville was to meet Stephen and ask him to encourage his son Nate to perform at Wayne’s theatre in Danville VA, The Historic North Theatre.

On the opening day, just after Wayne had registered he was talking to a few people in the lobby, and he had just told them one of his goals for attending was to meet Stephen. Out of hundreds of attendees, who walks up? Stephen Bargatze. Wayne told him, “I was just telling these folks that one of my goals coming here was to meet you, become your best friend over the next few days so you will encourage your son Nate to perform at my Historic North Theatre in Danville, VA.” He responded, “I had trouble getting him to perform for our church.” But he and Wayne did get to know each other over the next few days.

On closing day during the presentation where they were honoring Stephen, the audience and the honoree were all surprised when Nate Bargatze came on stage to be part of the festivities. He had flown in from where he was shooting a movie to honor his dad. Later Wayne was able to meet Nate and pitch him on coming to Danville. Wayne knows the odds are not good that such a big star would come to a small venue like his 500-seat Historic North Theatre. But as he says, “You don't know unless you ask. I believe in shooting for the moon and even if you miss you'll fall among the stars.”

A great crowd last night spontaneously gave a standing ovation to Sweet Fleet-the Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band at the Historic North Theatre in Danville, VA. Many are returning for tonight's ABBA Tribute Band-ABBA Nova. We're going to let you in on a secret, the same talented performers from last night's show make up tonight’s ABBA Nova concert. It's a small world. Two days ago, I had rotator cuff surgery at the Sovah Health hospital here in Danville Virginia. When I woke up in the recovery room I was greeted by a friendly and pretty nurse named Samantha Stanfield. She said, "Wayne it’s good to see you. Do you remember me?" I responded that she looked familiar, but I really couldn't place her. She said, "I was your magician's assistant 10 years ago at the Historic North Theatre here in Danville. You sawed me in half numerous times." She even showed me the picture on her phone of her sawed in half. Once I recognized her we chatted and caught up with each other. I remember her bubbly personality and that she always had a good sense of humor. As she walked away I think I may have overheard her saying to the other nurses, "OK, let's take him back in the operating room and I want to saw him in half."
