Today, we’re celebrating a very special milestone for Shawn Finn, Senior Vice President of Legendary Restaurant Brands, as he marks an incredible 39 years with Bennigan’s and Steak and Ale!

Nearly four decades with these iconic brands is something worth celebrating, and we’re incredibly grateful for the passion, commitment, and experience Shawn brings to our Legendary family.

Through the years, restaurants have changed, trends have come and gone, and generations of guests have walked through our doors. But people like Shawn have helped keep the heart and spirit of Bennigan’s alive.

Here's a little piece of restaurant history from the early days of The Original.

When Norman Brinker founded Steak and Ale in 1966, he helped revolutionize American dining by making a quality steakhouse experience accessible to everyday guests. But in some communities, local restrictions prevented restaurants from referencing alcohol in their names.

The solution? Jolly Ox!

That's right. Some Steak and Ale restaurants operated under the Jolly Ox name, complete with their own branding and that unmistakable ox mascot.

Different name. Same Legendary commitment to great food, generous portions, exceptional value, and genuine hospitality.

Nearly 60 years later, that commitment remains at the heart of everything we do.

Norman helped change the restaurant industry when he created Steak and Ale in 1966 and later Bennigan’s. His belief in great food, genuine hospitality, exceptional value, and taking care of the people behind the experience became part of the DNA of both brands.

That lineage is still very much alive today.

Paul and Gwen aren’t simply bringing back two familiar names. They’re building on what Norman started, protecting the traditions that made these brands Legendary while creating a future that introduces Bennigan’s and Steak and Ale to entirely new generations.
