This picture makes this Borracho Biscuit look high-class AF. The CFS hanging in the background doesn’t hurt either. To quote the great Mike Taylor from 5 seconds ago: “Nothing succeeds like excess.” starts at 4 and that party goes until 8pm. The deals are excessive and a recipe for success.

I was just reading people’s comparisons to the Guggenheim in NY to cupcakes, jello molds, and washing machines. That’s crazy. We all know it’s more like Central Market where you’re kinda semi forced to walk through without missing a thing. The sprawling Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece is like a seashell unfurling as you walk its halls displaying some of the finest pieces of art in the world. This morning, I present my homage to FLW’s groundbreaking design. I call it : “The Mega-Egg Sandwich with a Side of Grits.” I admit, I could’ve matched the source better, but my hunger took me over.

I don’t know what’s up, but my algo keeps trippin’ and playing AI videos. Ok, it’s only been two, but still - what? Remember that episode of the cartoon when the Gadge plays a record with his finger? Well, no one’s doing that tonight, BUT Tuesday Night Record Club WILL be in the house from 7 or so until 9 or so. We’ll have incredible on hand while they last. Bring your ears, your love of vinyl and dogs, and become a part of this cool group.

The first Video opened here in Dallas at the Medallion Center in 1985. While it brought the dreaded late fees and the fear of not being kind and rewinding, it also brought a ton of joy walking those aisles while trying to find the perfect movie to pair with my Dad’s famous homemade pizzas. The time it maybe hit heaviest was when you called ahead knowing that a tape was to be returned by someone, but only to be let down when you’d get to the store and learn whoever it was hadn’t yet returned it, so you were left to zombie walk the aisles again. What’s this have to do with Huevos Rancheros? Nothing. But damn, look at those things. I wish I had these when I rented Back to the Future the first time. Side note : the guy who invented the DeLorean was arrested on this day in 1982. October 19, man. Wild.

It’s National Mashed Potatoes Day! Taters get a lil’ sensitive always being a side piece so we need to throw some shine their way. So, while the hero of this plate is OBVIOUSLY the taters, I thought I might as well have a Chicken Fried Chicken on the side with some cream gravy. But again, of course, it’s the ’ special day so I don’t want to take away from their glory with this incredible Chicken. And after this, I reckon I’ll mosey on down to the great State Fair of Texas and hoist a to the man himself, for one last time this season and think to myself, “One Day, Johnny. One Day.

Sometimes it’s nice to try something different. Today is that day with Unplugged Commons and the crew as they bring in a slew of games and learn us all how to play. It starts at 5 and goes until 8 or so all the while our gives you cheap drinks and food from 4-8. In case you were wondering, I googled and found out : the first ever known board game was an Egyptian one game called Senet. They found versions of them buried in graves and tombs. Them some serious gamers, am I right?

You know how margaritas are more than just a drink, they’re a lifestyle? Like, you can have a b**r or whatever at lunch time and return to normal, but if you have one margarita, now you are drinking margaritas and either a nap is in your future or you continue on that path. I reckon that’s much like folks who drive a short-long El Camino. Sure it’s a vehicle, but it’s really a flex. Kinda like tonight’s band, they might not pump and thrust in some gym listening to REO Speedwagon, but they do shred and play fine C&W music and will do so starting at 7pm. Pair that with an award winning from 4pm-8pm and whoo-weee do we gots a night. Bonus: the two days of fall are here!

Still very relevant on its 75th anniversary, I Love Lucy aired on CBS for the first time in 1951. A hero in television and beyond, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz challenged discrimination and the broadcasting system in general through a genius comedic lens that’s impossible to top to this day. Of course, there have been many incredible programs we’ve enjoyed over the years, but have any touched “Vitameatavegemin?” Or her stomping and fighting in a vat of grapes? Or any of the other of their 180 episodes? Let’s discuss this evening at our famous from 4-8pm. Yes all the way until 8. Now that’s hard to beat.

Back in the day, toaster strudels were the business, right? At some point, I somehow convinced my parents to start buying them, and I thought they were seriously high class. Flakey crust, fruit … kind of, a dollop of sploop, and you’re good to go. I haven’t had one in a spell, but I wonder as these years roll on, if the quality of foods is diminishing in general or my taste buds have changed. Maybe both. At least my love of these unchanged pancakes, bacon, and eggs is omnipresent. They even have blueberries.

I sure wish I had the Whataburger guy’s voice when I look down at this dish. I’d say things outloud like: “If your mouth ain’t waterin’, it’s broke” or “Momma always said chili’s a five meal food - breakfast, lunch, dunch, linner, and supper.” Instead, I just mumble over bites something that’s in between “yums, “mmms,” and “oh my words…” It’s fun to imagine what the neighbors over at B2 are thinking of my yapping to myself. I like to think they’re casting agents looking for extras in an old west picture and need someone to make those sounds right before shuttering some windows. What am I talking about? No idea. But to round this out, I’ve got headshots available.

I know folks who can make burgers on their respective grills at home that taste incredible. Unfortunately, that isn’t me. Mine more resemble my dad’s hockey puck style patties. On this holiday day, do yourself a big favor : order a bunch of burgers from us. Then, when your holiday party guests are arriving, put our patties on your grill for a second and pretend you cooked them. It’ll make you look like a true grill master, and your house won’t turn silent when you walk room to room. See, everybody wins. I think the younger genz call this a life hack. And what my gen should’ve learned from a “More You Know” clip.

The show starts around 7 and goes until 9!

I was born in Deep Ellum at Baylor, and I’ve been hanging up innit my whole life. It’s the best when it’s at its best and making it the best are the folks at Deep Ellum Foundation who do an excellent job of promoting and preserving this great community with exhibitions (go see the current one) and events like the 3rd annual Deep Ellum Block Party happening Nov 21! Mark your calendars. The lineup is gonna rip! Speaking of marking calendars, the date you’d circled is today! Chad Stockslager and I John Pedigo will be playing tonight as the playing all the songs we can remember. For you, of course! Show is 7-9pm and is 4pm-8pm with deals that will blow your minds.

In the latest Ted Lasso episode, Coach Alice Chilton says that green beans are gross. (Sorry for the spoiler alert.) Well, first, she hasn’t had these GB’s and certainly not adjacent to our mashed potatoes and chicken fried chicken. Second, it’s a TV show. Third, it made my brain go on a tangent thinking about a JL Long Middle School musical called “Green Beings in the Garden,” written by “wildman” David Hirsch and directed by the oh so great Beverly Hirsch. I can’t remember the plot so much, but the minor keyed hook of the title song is still stuck in my head. Looking back, I imagine the script was printed on h**p paper for authenticity. That was a weird play, man.

With your laugh that filled the entire barroom, Matthew Posey, you’re an icon of the community and will be missed tremendously. We all looked up to you as you were not only nice and kind, but as a consummate craftsman of the arts. Your plays and characters on tv shows and film will live on forever as will your distinguished legacy. I hoisted some glasses to you and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Hear, hear! Dodge some drops while taking a drag of this cool air NTX. It’s amazing outside. I haven’t had the sandwich in a while, and I gotta say - Daaaang! It puts the “UB” in CLUB. Simple and amazing. If anyone’s headed to the Fair, stop by for an appetizer meal before. A solid base is a solid start. We’ll even put whatever we got on a stick for you. Jk. We don’t have sticks. But we would if we could. Mash taters on a stick? Anything is possible. See you at at noon.

For no reason, I woke up thinking about the Guinness Book of World Records; what my friend “Kegman” commonly referred to as “The GBR.” As a kid, it was a fascinating read to be sure. Who didn’t want to know who the tallest person was? Or the guy who ate an entire Cessna airplane? Or - of course - reading about Oliver Peck’s for most tattoos in 24 hours. For no good reason and much like mail-order Moon Rocks, sadly its prominence seems to have wained over the last x amount of years. But back in the day, it was a staple coffee table read. Maybe I’ll head over to and grab some copies. Anyways - what’s this have to do with anything? Nothing … other than the fact that we’ve got the best - and should be GBR winning - . It starts at 4pm and goes until 8pm. Robin and I are at the helm tonight! To quote the great Snakebite Sue, “Come on in, the water… is … fine.”
