Pawtuxet Village is one of America’s most historic sites.…the very spot where America launched its first official act of the Revolutionary War . It was here in 1772 where Rhode Island patriots took the first organized military action toward independence by attacking and burning the hated revenue ship, the H.M.S. This first act led directly to the establishment of the Committee of Correspondence, u

nifying the individual colonies and starting the process of the American Revolution. The ‘Bluegrass on the Pawtuxet’ Festival was founded in order to celebrate the traditional music of America! On 4th of July Weekend, we celebrate America’s birthday in a setting only possible in a place like Pawtuxet Village. Sponsored by Rhode Island Bluegrass Alliance, and with the cooperation of villagers and the cities of Warwick & Cranston, Pawtuxet will be transformed into a bluegrass village, with live music throughout the village all weekend! By day there will be gourmet food trucks, arts and crafts booths, farmer’s market, sessions and jams in local cafes/pubs/restaurants and local bluegrass bands playing live acoustic music by the water at Aspray Park. Workshops catering to songwriting and various instruments will feature throughout the weekend. At night there will be seated concerts at the beautiful historic venue, Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, featuring top national and regional bluegrass bands. Come stroll through the friendly & beautiful little historic village of Pawtuxet. Listen to music, eat great food and experience a unique summer music festival in a way that’s only possible in the special village of Pawtuxet in the tiny cultural state of Rhode Island.
