A Statement Regarding False and Misleading Claims About My Business
I feel it is important to address some of the false, misleading, and damaging statements that have been made about my business and my plans for The Untouchables Speakeasy.
First and foremost, The Untouchables Speakeasy is not a strip club, brothel, or establishment designed to promote prostitution, drugs, s*x trafficking, or illegal activity. I am working very hard to create a classy, welcoming, 1920s-inspired establishment where people can enjoy entertainment in a safe and respectful environment.
I have also seen confusion surrounding my use of the word burlesque. When I referred to burlesque, I was referring to its historical entertainment roots—dance, singing, comedy, theatrical performance, costumes, and stage entertainment. I am not planning to have n**e performances or s*xual entertainment. The women I hire will be appropriately and fully dressed. The dresses I have selected are simply examples of the classy vintage-inspired look I envision for the performers.
I do not associate my business with gang activity, s*x trafficking, prostitution, or illegal drug activity. Those accusations are completely contrary to the business I am working to build.
I have invested my own money, time, energy, and countless hours into making this dream a reality. I have worked extremely hard to get my business to this point, and I have done so without someone else funding my dream for me. I am proud of what I am building, and I will not allow rumors and personal attacks to define it.
I also want to make it clear that The Untouchables is a BYOB establishment, operated with the intention of following all applicable laws, regulations, permits, and safety requirements. I am committed to operating my business responsibly and professionally.
I understand that competition exists in business. However, competition should never become an excuse to spread rumors or make accusations about another business owner. If someone has a legitimate concern about my business, there are appropriate channels to address those concerns. Spreading accusations and attempting to damage someone's reputation is not the way to handle business competition.
I will continue to focus on what I can control: building a beautiful establishment, providing quality entertainment, treating my customers and employees with respect, and operating my business responsibly.
I have worked too hard and sacrificed too much to let negativity distract me from my goals.
The Untouchables Speakeasy will speak for itself.
