I never thought I’d say this, but our friends at CNN stopped by again!

John King joined us here at Politics for a conversation about the economy, the midterms, everyday life, and how we’re feeling about our country.

We want Politics to be a place where people feel comfortable having these conversations—where you can share what’s on your mind, ask questions, and feel heard. We don’t have to agree on everything to listen to one another and leave with a little more understanding.

Real people, real issues, and room at the table for different perspectives.

Thank you, John King and the CNN team, for pulling up a chair and giving our little corner of Corpus Christi a voice in the national conversation.

Listen, this one is important. 🎀

Cancer sucks. And behind every diagnosis is a person whose life was moving along—work, kids, plans—until they heard those words: “You have breast cancer.”

At Politics, we get to know the people who walk through our doors. Sometimes that means sitting down, listening, and sharing stories that deserve to be heard.

I sat down with six women who trusted me with their stories. The shock. The fear. The thought of what it meant for their families. Things that are still hard to talk about, even years later.

This video is just the introduction. I’ll be sharing more of their individual stories, in their own words.

Fellas, pay attention too. Someone you love may face this someday. Take a minute to listen and understand what that can feel like.

To these six women: thank you for trusting me with something so personal.

🏈 COWBOYS, KARAOKE & THE GIRLS! 🎤

Jamy and Emily are suited up and ready for tonight! And we’ve got a full night planned at Politics!

First, we’re turning up the volume for Cowboys football! Then, when that final whistle blows, we’re turning up the microphones for karaoke!

And knowing this crowd, we’re not sure which one is going to be louder! 😂

Get here early, grab a good seat, and plan on staying a while. The girls are ready, the TVs will be rocking, and the microphones are waiting!

Roy’s got the smoker going, and that smell alone is worth getting off the couch for. 🥔🔥

A hot, smoky potato, fluffy inside and piled with your favorite fixings… followed by that first cold, tangy sip of one of our delicious Bloody Marys or micheladas. A little kick of spice after that smoky bite? Now we’re talking.

The games are on, Roy’s taking care of lunch, and your Sunday is looking pretty good. Come hungry to Politics. 🏈

We’re doing a potato bar for the Dallas/Texans game at Politics! Football on the big screens, something good to eat, and a bar full of people who apparently know more than the coaches. 😂

Pretty incredible moment for Politics.

A media crew from TV Globo in Brazil came in to film part of a five-part series about American politics and how people here view what is happening in the country.

What made it even better was seeing the cameras set up right under the sign:

“POLITICS — A bar for the rest of us…”

For a place in Corpus Christi to become part of an international conversation about America is something I never expected, but it was a great opportunity to sit down, talk, and give them a perspective from outside the usual national political bubble.

From Corpus Christi to Brazil. 🇺🇸🇧🇷

Pretty damn cool.
