🎨 COMMUNITY FEATURE 🎨

Art is more powerful when it’s created together.
Introducing Community Love — a large-scale tile mural brought to life through hundreds of hands, shared creativity, and the collective spirit of Corpus Christi.

Designed by Mural Mosaic, painted by community members, and assembled through the KSpace Mural Arts Program, this 600-tile mural celebrates the strength found in connection. Its message is simple but powerful: community creates something bigger than any one person could alone.

Inspired by unity, collaboration, and shared experiences, Community Love reflects the beauty of coming together while subtle elements of the American flag woven throughout the composition honor the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026 — grounding the piece in both local pride and a larger moment of reflection.

Since 2008, KSpace Contemporary and the KSpace Mural Arts Program have helped create more than 30 murals throughout Corpus Christi by working alongside local youth and community members to transform public spaces through art.
Because sometimes the most meaningful murals aren’t painted by one artist — they’re painted by everyone.

🎨 ARTIST FEATURE 🎨

Meet Lucas — an Argentine-born artist and two-time Regional Winner of the National Mural Awards whose work transforms public spaces into dreamlike worlds filled with surrealism, mystery, and curiosity.

For Mural Fest, Lucas presents Ser Alad, a reimagining of the Corpus Christi coastline as a living, breathing spirit. A mythical creator of flight, the figure embodies the diverse bird species found along our shores while moving with the fluid grace of the sea itself.

Blurring the boundaries between water and sky, Ser Alad celebrates the vibrant rhythm of our coastal ecosystem — transforming familiar landscapes into something mythical, mysterious, and alive.

Originally from Córdoba, Argentina, Lucas is a self-taught artist whose practice spans murals, installations, sculpture, paintings, and kinetic work.

Since bringing his practice to large-scale walls in 2011, he has used public spaces to create surreal universes that explore human nature, hidden perspectives, and the unknown.

Watch Ser Alad come to life throughout Mural Fest and experience the transformation for yourself.

🎨 The walls are changing by the hour.

Sketches are becoming color. Color is becoming detail. And what started as blank walls is quickly becoming something much bigger.

Our artists continue pushing through long days, ladders, lifts, paint, and plenty of Texas heat as each mural begins revealing its personality.

There’s still plenty more to come — and trust us, you’re going to want to see these finished.

Stop by throughout the week during the week and watch the progress happen in real time, and experience the mural unveilings during this First Friday celebration ArtWalk × Mural Fest.

The transformation is happening now 👀🔥

🎨 PROGRESS CHECK FROM MONDAY🎨

The walls are changing fast and our artists are putting in the work through the Texas heat 🔥

Anna is making major progress — organizing spray paint, building her foundation, and getting everything prepared before diving into detail work over the next few days.

Lucas is finalizing his sketch while continuing to fill in major sections as his concept starts taking shape on the wall.

Right across the way, Megan has already moved beyond sketching and brought her main concept onto the wall through large color-blocked sections, beginning to establish the movement and composition behind The Band.

Meanwhile, DB Studios has been working together to build out major sections of their mural, steadily bringing their vision to life piece by piece.

Every artist is painting diligently, pushing through long days, heat, and walls that somehow get bigger every time you stand next to them.

Drive by throughout the week during Mural Fest to see the progress in person, catch the mural unveilings between music sets at ArtWalk x Mural fest this Friday, and join us Saturday at the Artist Summit for live Q&A sessions with the artists themselves.

Wish these artists luck as they continue bringing these walls to life 👏

🎨 ARTIST FEATURE 🎨

Get ready to experience the work of Megan Oldhues, a Toronto-based muralist, as she transforms walls into moments of connection, movement, and everyday beauty.

Inspired by the history of Padre Island and its past wild horses, Megan created The Band as a reflection of connection through movement. The mural draws inspiration from the way wild horses travel together in family groups called bands — social structures built on protection, cooperation, and collective movement.

Through flowing compositions and layered mark-making, the mural uses the motion and relationships between horses to explore ideas of family, resilience, and community, serving as a reminder that strength is often found in moving forward together.

Known for her large-scale figurative work and textured acrylic style, Megan creates murals that transform everyday moments into evocative scenes through movement, atmosphere, and human connection.

Watch The Band come to life this week during Mural Fest.
