Columbus Unscripted and Upper Arlington Library: Weekend Recap!
This past weekend, a group of strangers became an ensemble almost instantly, sharing goals, experiences, and ideas about improv. Some were ticking off a bucket list goal, others stretching themselves, a few felt the itch to perform again, and some were reconnecting with a favorite way to feel alive—or even working with dementia through play. It was all about starting where we are—right here, right now.
We began with foundational work in joy, laughter, and ease, and then leapt into group scenes that flowed effortlessly into rich connections and narratives that just made sense. The room was alive with laughter, light in voices and eyes, and a deep, shared joy. Everyone was in the mix—hopping on stage, participating, saying yes to every idea, embracing each “wowee” moment.
The places we went? A high-rise in Texas, a DMV, a gender reveal party… and more. No nos, all yeses. New friendships formed across ages—from high schoolers to retirees. Gentle curiosity, comfort, and pure enthusiasm fueled the energy, and our gears were on fire!
Upper Arlington, we can’t wait to come back!
And for everyone inspired by the fun: our classes start this week! Join us at Lazelle Woods Tuesday evenings or Whetstone Saturdays. Sign up and come play—check out http://columbusunscripted.com for all the details.
