Planning a holiday party? Book it in this order.

1. The venue. Before you sign, ask one question: can we bring our own alcohol? Not every venue allows it, and the answer decides what your bar can look like.

2. Food and beverage. Once the place and date are set, these come next. They shape the night more than anything else.

3. Everything else. Décor, music, the ugly sweater contest.

A note on timing: there are only three weekends in December before Christmas, so Fridays and Saturdays go first. If your venue is set, now is the time to line up the bar.

You bring the bottles. We bring the bar and the people who know how to run it.

Meet the Orchard Mule, our drink of the month. Apple c***r, ginger b**r, lime and a cinnamon stick. Pick your spirit and the whole mood changes: bourbon by the fire, spiced rum like apple pie, vodka clean and crisp, tequila for the one who likes a surprise.

Where we’ve been lately…

I love looking back at the last stretch of events, because our bars end up in some of the best spots around. Here are the last 5 venues we’ve set up at

Jeffrey Mansion
Wolfe Park Shelterhouse
Whetstone Park Shelterhouse
Forbidden Lake Farms
Warner Woods Pavilion

Since we frequent many of these spots, here are a few things worth knowing:

Your savings come from providing your own alcohol. That’s the whole model, you buy it, you keep what you don’t open, no per-drink markup. Not sure how much to get? That’s what I’m here for. I’ll help you nail down the amounts, and if you’d rather not deal with it, we offer ordering and delivery too.

And yes — we carry liquor liability insurance. (Ask any venue how much that matters.)

Some of these places we roll our own bar right in. Some provide a bar and we run it. Either way, we show up ready for whatever the day throws at us — that’s kind of our thing.
