Meet Alyssa Mather, Ivywild School's new Front of House Manager! Alyssa manages Ivywild’s hospitality teams, and oversees both The Bristol Pub and the Principal’s Office.

👉 Tell us a little about yourself and how you found your way to Ivywild.
I was looking for a position where I had more opportunities to grow in my career, and it seemed like the perfect time to join the team with the changes happening in the building. And actually, Chef Paul introduced me to the people here, so I have him to thank for being at Ivywild! Here in town, I was the General Manager for Tapataria for two years, and I worked for Ascent Restaurant for about 10 years. Fun fact, I worked at Salad or Bust years ago when it opened, so it’s full circle for me to be back in Ivywild!

👉 What excites you most about joining Ivywild as the Front of House Manager?
Getting to work with everybody in the building. I’m really excited about the team we’re building, our people are great. I’m especially looking forward to the bartenders at the P.O. showing off their creativity as they help build the menus. Plus, I’m a foodie and I love eating and drinking, so this is the perfect place to work for that with all the options we have.

👉What new or exciting things can people expect to see at Ivywild in its next chapter?
Halloween! I love Halloween and I’m excited to build on some of the already established P.O. traditions and parties. (Save the date for Saturday, Oct. 31 for Halloween at Ivywild! We have a whole day of tricks, treats, and general mischief planned)

👉 What’s one thing you want every guest to feel when they visit Ivywild?
I want guests to feel a sense of community and comfort, and that all of their needs are met when they’re here. I want it to be a place where people can come on a good day, a bad day, just do work, or to hang out with friends. I want them to know they can come here for anything and everything.

👉 What’s your favorite thing on the P.O. menu right now?
The Smokey Folklore, I love mezcal. Also, we have some really great sangria that I love, which is available at both the P.O. and in The Bristol Pub.

Pull up a barstool Friday, Oct. 16, 6-9pm for Sip with Schnip at the Principal’s Office. Matthew Schniper from Side Dish with Schniper is stepping behind the bar alongside Jacob Pfund, owner of Rebel Rebel and former P.O. bartender, for a special evening of cocktails and a little friendly guest-bartending mischief. We’ll also have a special menu of cocktail + dessert pairings featuring sweet treats from Yellow Brick Bake Shop.

Then come back Saturday morning for Sip with Schnip: Part 2 at Bluebird Breakfast from 8-10am. Matthew will be back to sip P.O. coffee and taste the new yummy offerings at Bluebird Breakfast. Joining him will be Eric Nicol, owner of Loyal Coffee and OG manager/bartender of the Principal’s Office when it opened in 2013. Eric will give a special coffee tasting class between 8:30-9:30am. Plus, indulge in a special build-your-own mimosa and bloody mary bar.

In episode 3 of What’s Cookin’ at Ivywild, Side Dish with Schniper’s Matthew Schniper gets a taste of just-opened Yellow Brick Bake Shop, then tucks into a hot breakfast from Ivywild’s newest eatery, Bluebird Breakfast.

From 7am-8pm every day, Yellow Brick offers wholesome loaves and sweet treats baked on site. Everything from scones and cinnamon rolls to baguettes and focaccia to cakes, tarts, and cookies fill the display cases just inside the double doors of Ivywild.

Cozied up next to the Principal’s Office, Bluebird serves up a simple menu of tasty favorites like eggs and bacon, breakfast burritos, and French toast from 7-10:30 every morning. Paired with a craft coffee from the P.O. or a morning pastry from Yellow Brick, it’s a super delicious way to start the day ☀️

The hands-on art of small-batch baking is alive and well at Yellow Brick Bake Shop. Think morning pastries, wholesome loaves, desserts, and little treats made right here at Ivywild School.
