One of the most asked questions I get is about the “Barrel Room” ceiling. Yes, those are real barrel staves. I bought 17 wine barrels, keeping a few for the patio, and took them apart, yes, it was very hard and dirty. The inside of wine barrels are charred to help impart the oak taste so I was literally covered in black ash. The builders and I decided to create “pallets” as a way to build the ceiling. I wanted spacing between to help with noise control. I LOVED the way the ceiling turned out and the smell for the first 10 months was heavenly!
