Wine Wednesday ⠀

Today’s Wine Wednesday is a unique and compelling story of one of the world’s visionary winemakers and his noteworthy and jaw dropping wines. ⠀

Producer: Bodegas y Viñedos Raul Perez⠀
Region: Bierzo, Castilla y Leon, Spain⠀

Yesterday the Wine Advocate released their latest report spanning the globe with nearly 1,200 new wines reviewed, and nobody received higher marks that el Matador, Raúl Pérez.⠀

A native son of Bierzo, Raúl Pérez was born in the village of Valtuille where his family has been tending vines for over 300 years. He burst onto the international winemaking scene as a sort of wunderkind at just 22 years old, and has since been named Winemaker of the Year multiple times in leading publications from the United ⠀
States, Germany, Spain and even France.⠀

Pérez has gradually eschewed winemaking orthodoxy to capture and bottle the essence of the vineyards and soils where he works. In his reds, he searches for the most ideal maturation and maceration times for each vineyard and they are all fermented with stems unless the grapes have been dehydrated.⠀

As for the whites, Pérez shuns ultra-clean musts and cooling devices; he relies on yeasts and microbiology instead. “I like to work with the freedom of not knowing how the wines are going to smell,” says Pérez.⠀

The results? There are not enough superlatives in the English dictionary to do justice to just how special these wines are.⠀

These wines have just landed here at No Limit and we can’t be more excited to offer them out.⠀

Cheers!⠀

Wine Wednesday 6/24/2020⠀

For today’s Wine Wednesday we’ll be travelling to the northern part of Italy in the region of Valpolicella, where Amarone reigns.⠀

Producer: (Giuseppe) Quintarelli ⠀
Region: Amarone della Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy⠀

The Quintarelli family has been around Northern Italy for almost 100 years now. Giuseppe’s father Silvio purchased land in the Valpolicella region shortly after World War I, where he then established the Quintarelli Estate. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that Giuseppe starting working on the estate and turning it into what it is today.⠀

For 60 years, Giuseppe Quintarelli dominated in producing rich and concentrated wines in Valpolicella working with a number of different varietals: Corvina, Nebbiolo, Croatina, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano.⠀

Their top end wines such as their “Amarone della Valpolicella”, “Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva”, & “Valpolicella Classico Superiore” don’t get produced in unsuccessful vintages, which makes their wines even that more special.⠀

Their wines require tons of patience to reach their maximum potential, aging for 6-8 years before they’re released. But when they do release, they’re ready to drink right away.⠀

Unfortunately, in 2012 Giussepe passed away at the age of 84 passing down the torch to his daughter Fiorenza, her husband Giampaolo and their 2 grandchildren. They continue to carry on the Quintarelli legacy and produce unparalleled Italian wines.⠀

Wine Wednesday!⠀
6/17/2020⠀

For today’s Wine Wednesday we’ll be highlighting a producer from the high hills of southern Mendocino County.⠀

Producer: Halcon Vineyards⠀
Region: Yorkville Highlands, Mendocino County, California⠀

Owners Paul and Jackie Gordon have always been long time lovers of Northern Rhone wines. Specifically, those that are grown in Cote-Rôtie. Not so long ago, they decided they wanted to purchases some property to plant and grow vines on to produce wines of their own.⠀

They ended up finding a gorgeous property nestled up in the Yorkville Highlands of Mendocino County sitting around 2,500ft elevation (making it one of the highest vineyards in California). From there they planted 15 acres of Syrah facing west towards the Pacific Ocean. ⠀

The vineyard sees a lot of windy days and pure sunlight as it sits high above the fog line, which in the end produces concentrated yet elegant blue fruit driven, cool climate Syrah.⠀

We’ve been very fortunate here at No Limit to offer these affordable and delicious wines out all thanks to the amazing duo who brought Halcon to life, Paul & Jackie Gordon.⠀

Cheers!⠀

Monday Mystery Bottle⠀

As avid wine lovers, tasting wines blind and trying to figure out exactly what varietal, region, and price range the wine falls under is true thrill for us. ⠀

Because we love the element of surprise, we've created a fun game called The Monday Mystery Bottle.⠀

We're going to describe a wine in as little but informational detail as possible and it's going to be your job to try and guess what the wine is and what region it’s from with only 3 hints.⠀
(And if you feel like you’re an expert, try and guess the producer as well)⠀
Are you ready? ⠀

Hint 1: I am a lighter bodied wine that is grown mostly in Northern California and is very popular in another wine region in Europe.⠀

Hint 2: The region I’m from is predominantly known for growing me. And the name of the region has to do with a body of a water.⠀

Hint 3: I pair very well with these meats: Chicken, Duck, Salmon, & Lamb⠀

Bonus Hint : My producer has been growing grapes for over 60 years and they are recognized from all over the world for their 2 main highly accoladed varietals. ⠀

Wine Wednesday!⠀
6/10/2020⠀

For today’s Wine Wednesday we’re highlighting another incredible producer from our backyard here in Sonoma County.⠀

Producer: Walter Hansel Winery⠀
Region: Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California⠀

Walter Hansel was known as a fruit farmer here in Sonoma County. In the 70’s he planted half an ace of Chardonnay and made 2 barrels of it every year for the next 10 years for him and his family to drink.⠀

It wasn’t until one year with the help of Russian River Valley legend Tom Rochioli, that the wine truly stood out.⠀

Walter’s son Stephen saw what Tom was doing with growing grapes and making wine and wanted to jump on board and fully dive into that world.⠀

Fast forward almost 40 years and Walter Hansel has made its name for Pinot Noir & Chardonnays in Russian River Valley. They farm 80 acres of vineyards with 6 different clones of Pinot Noir & 7 Chardonnay clones. Their case production sits between 500-800 cases per wine, per ⠀
vintage.⠀

The style that Walter Hansel wines embody are that of those coming from Burgundy. Elegant and austere and made to enjoy with food. ⠀

(PS: These wines are very affordable as well ranging from $20-$50)⠀
Cheers!⠀

Here at No Limit Fine Wines we like to offer out incredible wines from all over the world.

From the domestic classics to international wines that you probably have never heard of.

It's our passion to show people the hidden gems of the wine world and to tell a story about them. Painting you a picture as if you were at the estate itself.

For today's Wine Wednesday, we highlight a producer that we absolutely love and know you will too.

Producer: Niepoort
Region: Douro Valley, Portugal.

Niepoort was first founded in 1842 by Holland native Francisco van der Niepoort. Almost 180 years later, its ran by 5th generation family member Dirk Niepoort. Dirk took over the company in 1990's from his father and started to make some vast changes.

Like many of the producers in the region, Niepoort was just making Portugal's greatest export which is: Port.
But Dirk had other ideas and wanted to start producing red and white table wines.
Fast forward almost 30 years, Niepoort now produces elegant and delicious low-alcohol wines & ports with a total production of 150,000 cases annually.
Niepoort wines show off the true potential that Portugal has to offer in the realm of world class red and white wines.

Curious to try them?

As always, Cheers!
