IF YOU LIKE HORROR THEN BE IN FLORIDA THIS OCTOBER AS ALICE COOPER HAS DESIGNED HIS OWN MAZE AT UNIVERSAL STUDIOS.
read on if your dare!

Legendary Shock Rocker Alice Cooper Evokes Maniacal Mayhem Inspired from His Landmark Concept Albums for This Year’s Eagerly-Anticipated Halloween Horror Nights Experiences at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood

Event Marks Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee’s First Haunted Attraction at Universal Orlando Resort and His Return to Universal Studios Hollywood in a New 3D Maze

ORLANDO, Fla., UNIVERSAL CITY, Ca. (July 24, 2012) — Multi-platinum recording artist Alice Cooper, a mastermind of the rock horror genre, will conjure up his peculiar vision of disturbing horror imagery in two new haunted attractions debuting this fall at Halloween Horror Nights at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood.

For the first time ever at Universal Orlando Resort’s award-winning event, Alice Cooper’s own version of a demented and dark subconscious will come to life in the haunted maze, “Alice Cooper – Welcome to My Nightmare.” Inspired by iconic elements from his first solo album, the attraction will put guests inside the haunted dreams of the album’s recurring character, “Steven,” as he endures the scream-inducing madness spawned from the mind of the legendary rocker.

Making an encore performance at Universal Studios Hollywood’s acclaimed event, Alice Cooper’s new haunted attraction, “Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3D,” will be inspired by the musician’s classic concept album centered on unending darkness, eternal torment and unimaginable horrors. The terrifying maze will beckon guests to experience hell’s interminable inferno as imagined through the eyes of hard rock visionary Alice Cooper. To experience this daunting new maze, guests will don 3D glasses for an optimum up close and personal three-dimensional encounter with Alice Cooper’s underworld.

Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper pioneered the concept of the theatrical rock concert. His recording career spans six decades, includes more than two dozen albums, millions of record sales, countless world tours and appearances in scores of movies and videos, including “Nightmare on Elm Street: Freddy’s Dead,” Universal Pictures’ “Prince of Darkness” and a memorable appearance in the recent “Dark Shadows.” Last fall, Alice Cooper released his acclaimed “Welcome 2 My Nightmare,” his long-awaited sequel to his 1975 classic “Welcome to My Nightmare.” The album, which debuted onto the Billboard 200 at No.22, proves Alice Cooper's continued relevance and popularity, cementing him as of one of music’s most influential artists of all time.

Sharing his enthusiasm, Alice Cooper said, “I grew up watching classic Universal horror movies so it’s a thrill for me to work with Universal’s designers to create the quintessential Alice Cooper maze for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. To have Alice Cooper haunted attractions at both parks this year is truly an honor...or is it a horror? Last year, Universal Studios Hollywood scared the wits out of me with their maniacal and demented creation and they’ve promised to up the ante with ‘Alice Cooper Goes To Hell 3D.’ I can’t wait to see the final terrifying masterpiece. It will be hell! I’m even more excited to see Universal Orlando Resort’s maze, ‘Alice Cooper - Welcome To My Nightmare.’ Let’s see if they can scare me!” “There are few as coolly demented as Alice Cooper,” said Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort. “He’s a cult classic icon and his partnership on the ‘Alice Cooper – Welcome to My Nightmare’ maze will bring something completely new and unexpected to our Halloween Horror Nights fans.”

John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood, said, “We wanted to break new ground with the insanely immersive ‘Alice Cooper Goes to Hell 3D’ maze and elevate its journey into the abyss to a shocking new level. The cutting-edge 3D technology we invented for this haunted attraction will add a palatable sense of realism to an already twisted environment that only music genius Alice Cooper could envision. Through innovative sets and LED technology, we’ve totally pushed the envelope to turn Alice’s maze into a mind-blowing 3D experience for his fans and Halloween Horror Nights guests.”

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights® events have a more than 20-year history of creating incredibly entertaining, horrifying Halloween experiences that are consistently rated the nations’ best. The events on each coast feature highly-themed, disturbingly real, haunted mazes based on everything from film to nightmares -- and streets filled with hundreds of specially trained “scareactors.”

Rides that used to be good but are now gone for good.

ATTRACTION FEATURE

Theme parks are always expanding and changing. Some of the most beloved rides have been dismantled and replaced with newer and more current titles. Once E ticket rides are now just memories of the past. Let's hop in the Delorean and take a trip back to the past and check out some of the cool stuff that used to be found at the attractions in the Orlando area. While we are in the Delorean what better place to start than Back to the Future the Ride, formally at Universal Orlando.

GONE ATTRACTIONS:
Back to the future

Back to the Future is easily one of my favorite movie trilogies. I was sad to see this ride go. This was one of those rides that you had to go to each time you visited Universal Studios. As simulators go, it was a lot of fun and a smooth ride that gave you the feeling of actually flying. Hosted by Doc Brown and Biff the story was easy to follow and faithful to the movies. Biff had broken into the institute of technology and stole a Delorean time machine. Doc took a remote control and guided your Delorean through Hill Valley and time to retrieve Biff and the stolen time machine. The building has been converted to the Simpsons ride and still uses the mechanics of the original.

20,000 leagues

Back in the day this was an E ticket ride. Located in the back of Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom, the ride was a big draw for 1000s of people each day. Each Sub could carry 40 guests and a captain. The boat may have never been fully submerged but it was still a great ride for children and adults. The 20K ride was abruptly "temporarily closed" for "renovations" on September 5, 1994; which as it turned out was just a nice way to say, "We're shutting down the Best Ride in the World forever." One of the Subs is now in a snorkeling area at Disney's Castaway Key. Check out more on the history of the ride and crew at http://www.20kride.com

Skyway

Skyway stretched from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. The gondola ride gave you a relaxing view of each area and a great break from the mass of people below. Inclement weather would close the ride any time the wind picked up or if there was a threat of lightning. The cast members were staffed out of the Fantasyland crew. Lederhosen in Fantasyland and a jump suit for Tomorrowland. If you still need to get a gondola ride fix, then head over to Busch Gardens in Tampa.

JAWS

A more resent closing, JAWS, took guests on a boat through Amity Harbor. (Insert Jaws music here) During the tour the boat was attacked by a life-size Great White. The skipper always saved the day. The fire in this ride was intense, very intense, Jaws was one of the most exciting rides at Universal Orlando. The fear of swimming in the ocean was kept alive through this ride.

Mr. Toads Wild Ride

Located in Fantasyland across from 20,000 leagues, this was a car based ride with lots of turns and things jumping out from behind bushes. The ride could be a bit scary for kids. The ride followed the film Wind in the Willows and had lots of action. There was a point in the ride where it appeared that you were going to hit a train in a tunnel head on. The ride was converted to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Snow Whites Scary Adventure

Snow White's SCARY, get that SCARY Adventure, sorry to all the little girls over time who had some friend say "Oh its not scary." This was a dark ride with lots of black light effects. Like Mr. Toads Wild Ride, the ride was car based with many turns and areas with things popping out at you. Sadly this ride closed it doors forever in 2012. There will be a new ride based on Snow White and the 7 dwarfs in the new area of Fantasyland. The new ride will be coaster based ride through the mines.

Kongfrontation

Kongfrontation was a Universal Orlando ride that had a life size Kong that your skytram inadvertantly ran into. While touring the city there are rumors of a giant ape attacking the city. From the real fire effects to the huge face of Kong you were not bored. It opened as one of the original attractions at the park on June 7, 1990 and was closed on September 8, 2002. Revenge of the Mummy opened in its place on May 21, 2004.

Alien Encounter

ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter (often abbreviated Alien Encounter) was a "theater-in-the-round" attraction in the Tomorrowland section of the Magic Kingdom theme park at Walt Disney World Resort. It was a darkly humorous science-fiction experience that used binaural sound to achieve many of its effects. A warning outside the attraction's entrance alerted guests that it was intense and unintended for children under the age of 12. It opened briefly for previews on December 16, 1994, on the site of the former Mission to Mars attraction, but was ordered closed on January 12, 1995 for retooling by then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner. It opened officially on June 20, 1995 as part of the Magic Kingdom's New Tomorrowland. It closed permanently on October 12, 2003. The attraction was replaced by Stitch's Great Escape!, which uses much of the same technology and set pieces.

World of Motion

(October 1, 1982 - January 2, 1996), sponsored by General Motors, was the former tenant of the Transportation pavilion in Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort. It was an opening day attraction at EPCOT Center in 1982 and it closed in 1996 to make way for Test Track, a new thrill ride through a GM testing facility. Visitors would board a moving four to six person Omnimover vehicles, and would be taken through scenes that were populated with Audio-Animatronic figures and also projection effects. It was a whimsical look at the history and achievements in transportation, showing scenes from the invention of the wheel right up to the present day and beyond.
