This week we're shining the spotlight on Kelly Shinstock, Senior Vice President with Gershman Commercial Real Estate and a member of the BOMA St. Louis Board of Directors!

With 27 years in the commercial real estate industry, Kelly has been part of the BOMA family for many years and has become especially active during the last few. As Co-Chair of the Programs Committee, she enjoys collaborating with fellow members to identify timely topics and seeing those ideas come to life through impactful educational programs.

When asked about her favorite BOMA event, Kelly didn't hesitate: the Holiday Party! She loves the opportunity to reconnect with industry friends, celebrate successes, enjoy genuine conversations, and, as she puts it, "the champagne on tap doesn't hurt."

Outside of work, Kelly loves to travel. Whether it’s a camping trip, visiting her daughter in New York City, or relaxing on a beach, she’s always ready for her next adventure.

And, one fun fact many may not know: Kelly has been known to take the karaoke stage and rap 90s hip hop!

Twenty years. One industry. A whole lot of connections.

The 2026 Industry Expo, hosted by BOMA St. Louis, IFMA St. Louis Chapter, and IREM St. Louis, brought together an incredible cross-section of the St. Louis commercial real estate community . . . and the energy throughout the day was undeniable. From the moment the doors opened, the show floor was filled with conversations, networking, new ideas, and meaningful connections between more than 400 property managers, building engineers, service providers, and industry partners.

This year’s 20th anniversary celebration added an extra level of excitement, with creative themed booths, giveaways, anniversary décor, and plenty of familiar faces reconnecting throughout the afternoon.

Events like this only happen because of the strong support from our exhibitors, sponsors, attendees, and volunteers. This week’s Member Spotlight features Melissa DeCicco, who works in Commercial Business Development with ServiceMaster Restore!

As a BOMA member for four years, Melissa says involvement with BOMA St. Louis has helped her grow into a stronger, more knowledgeable partner for those she serves, whether through monthly luncheons or other events. Her favorite large-scale event is the Holiday Party, where she enjoys dressing up, connecting with others, and celebrating a successful year together.

With a background in both property management and emergency restoration, the Emergency Preparedness Committee is especially meaningful to Melissa. She values the education, collaboration, and resources shared within the group and appreciates the committee’s role in strengthening the industry and supporting local communities.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys traveling, spending time on the golf course with her family, and cheering on her kids at hockey games. A devoted Dolly Parton fan since age seven, she even held a season pass to Dollywood for five years despite living 800 miles away. In 2003, she finally met Dolly and says she was every bit as genuine and amazing as she had imagined.

We had a fantastic April luncheon hosted by BOMA and IREM! Sincere thanks to our speakers, Tad Berry with Property Assessment Review and Mindi Allison (she/her) from Safer + Simpler Missouri, for sharing their expertise. Attendees gained valuable insight into the proposed statewide building code and the evolving landscape of property tax assessment policies.
