It saddens me beyond words to have to make this post.
Today, we lost an incredible soul.
Steve had been battling cancer for a long time, facing it with a strength, determination, and resilience that inspired everyone around him. While cancer may have claimed his body, it never claimed his spirit. It never took his humor, his heart, his kindness, or the impact he had on the countless people fortunate enough to know him. In that sense, Steve won this battle long before today.
For many years, Steve was a familiar face and a cornerstone of the Night Deposit family, managing the bar and working alongside Nathaniel Green with South East Cues here in Clarksville since he was a young man. Through the years, he became much more than an employee, coworker, or friend. He became family.
Nat and Carolyn have lost someone who may not have shared their blood, but was every bit a son in the ways that truly matter. The Night Deposit family has lost a man who helped shape the lives of so many people through simple acts of kindness, friendship, laughter, guidance, and unwavering loyalty.
Some people leave behind memories. Steve leaves behind a legacy of relationships, stories, and moments that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
The measure of a life is not how long it lasts, but how deeply it touches others. By that measure, Steve lived an extraordinary life.
Rest easy, Steve. Your fight is over, your pain is gone, and your memory will live on in every life you touched. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
