It’s National Moonshine Day, which seems like the perfect holiday for a town where half the stories start with, “Now don’t tell anyone I told you this…”

Tonight’s special is Southwest Chipotle Chislic — because regular chislic apparently wasn’t spicy enough for some of you. If you’ve ever thought, “I wish my supper would fight back a little,” this is your night.

Mikal and Hannah are serving, which means your drinks should arrive quickly and your bad decisions can begin on schedule. Jocee is in the kitchen making sure the chislic is cooked better than most people’s plans for the weekend.

Come celebrate National Moonshine Day at the Lookout. We can’t legally serve moonshine, but we can serve enough food and drinks that your stories tomorrow might sound like you did.

See you tonight.

Burger Night is here at The Lookout!

Tonight’s special is the Slaw Burger: a cheeseburger topped with bacon, BBQ sauce, and coleslaw. It's what happens when a backyard cookout and a burger decide to stop pretending they're just friends.

Chasity is tending bar while Eddy is handling the cooking. One of them serves cold drinks, the other serves hot food, and somehow neither gets paid enough to hear the phrase, “I’m just looking.”

Today would have been Chuck Barris’s 97th birthday. He gave America *The Gong Show*, proving long before social media that people will willingly embarrass themselves in public for entertainment.

Also, congratulations to the Cyclone golf teams on their strong showing at State this week! They spent days hitting a little white ball across acres of grass. Around here, that’s either golf or trying to find where your dog buried something.

Stop in for a Slaw Burger, raise a glass to the Cyclones, and enjoy an evening where the only thing getting gonged is your diet.

Taco Tuesday is happening at the Lookout tonight.

Cameo is behind the bar, Bobbie is in the kitchen, and neither one can help you explain why your mower has been sitting in the yard half-taken-apart since Memorial Day.

It's also Jerry Mathers' 78th birthday. He was Beaver Cleaver on TV. For the younger crowd, that was a show where kids got into trouble without social media, security cameras, or somebody posting it in the community Facebook group five minutes later.

Stop in for tacos, a cold beverage, and a chance to hear the same story told three different ways by three different people.

Small-town entertainment at its finest.

Tonight is Wing Night at the Lookout!

Matt is bartending, Bobbie is cooking, and somehow they'll both still hear every piece of town gossip before the night is over.

It's also National Say Something Nice Day, which is a challenge around here. But we'll give it a shot:

Your ex looks happy.
The Vikings might be good this year.
And that check engine light has probably built character.

That's all the nice things we've got.

Come on in for wings, cold drinks, and the chance to say something nice to your neighbors before immediately asking who bought a new pickup and how much they paid for it.

Tonight's special at the Lookout is a BLT. That's bacon, lettuce, and tomato for those of you who still think every sandwich needs either ranch or a warning label.

Mikal is behind the bar, Matt is in the kitchen, and together they're doing their best to keep the place running despite the fact that it's Friday and half the town suddenly remembered they don't have supper plans.

Today would have been Bob Hope's 123rd birthday. Bob entertained troops around the world for decades, which is impressive. Around here, we consider it entertainment when someone backs into an electrical pole or tries to pay their tab with a losing scratch ticket.

Come grab a BLT, a cold drink, and some local gossip that will be completely accurate by next week.

Pizza Night at The Lookout!

Tonight's special is a Spicy BBQ Chicken Pizza, or get $3 off any menu pizza if spicy sounds a little too dangerous for a Thursday.

Chasity is behind the bar while Jocee and McKenna are in the kitchen making sure the smoke alarm stays just bored enough not to participate.

Today would have been Ian Fleming's 118th birthday, the man who created James Bond. Bond drove Aston Martins, carried fancy gadgets, and saved the world. Around here, our gadgets are a flashlight with dead batteries, a pocketknife, and that one screwdriver that's somehow fixed everything since 1998.

Bond ordered martinis. We order whatever's cold.

Bond fought international villains. We fight wasps, stubborn lawn mowers, and trailer wiring.

License to grill? Maybe.
License to chill? Absolutely!

See you at The Lookout!

Burger Night tonight at The Lookout featuring the Beer Cheese Philly Burger — the kind of special that makes people suddenly “just happen to be in town.”

Matt’s behind the bar keeping the drinks cold and the gossip moving efficiently.

Kristina’s in the kitchen doing the Lord’s work feeding a town where everyone claims they’re “just gonna eat light tonight” right before ordering fries.

And in case you needed another reason to stop in, today would’ve been Wild Bill Hickok’s 189th birthday. Which means he’s officially old enough to complain about gas prices and kids these days.

See you tonight.

Tonight at the Lookout it’s Burger Night — $2 off any menu burger or take a gamble on the Pizza Burger, which sounds exactly like the kind of idea that starts with, “Hold my beer and watch this.”

Chasity is bartending tonight, keeping the drinks cold and listening politely while half the town explains how they “almost bought cattle back in ‘98.” Kristina’s in the kitchen making sure the burgers are cooked better than most people’s plans for planting season.

Also, happy 80th birthday to Cher. Eighty years old and still more glamorous than the guy who came in wearing chore boots, gym shorts, and a seed corn hat to date night.

Come eat, drink, and catch up on the weekly town news — since apparently Facebook rumors aren’t spreading fast enough.

Taco Tuesday tonight at the Lookout.

Cameo’s behind the bar and Bobbie’s in the kitchen making tacos faster than small-town rumors spread after Sunday church.

Today is the 64th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday” to President Kennedy. Back then it caused a national scandal. Around here, the bigger scandal would be somebody ordering tacos and not complaining about gas prices at least once.

Expect the usual Tuesday night excitement:

--Somebody saying they’re “just stopping in for one”
--A debate about rain chances from people with no weather training whatsoever
--And at least one guy staring at the lottery machines like they personally betrayed him

Come out for tacos, cold beer, and an evening of watching your neighbors act exactly like you expected.

It’s Wing Night at the Lookout tonight.

Matt’s bartending, Bobbie’s cooking, and half the town will be here pretending they “just stopped in for one” before closing the place down.

Since it’s National No Dirty Dishes Day, this is basically your excuse to avoid the sink pile at home that’s been soaking since Thursday. Come eat wings off our plates instead.

Fair warning: the ranch will disappear faster than a farmer spotting rain clouds, and somebody’s uncle will absolutely tell the same hunting story three different times tonight like it’s a brand-new episode. 🍗🍺
