One meeting over coffee sparked an idea that has fueled year-over-year growth. With each passing year, we learn more, improve, and become more passionately committed to creating a live music experience for those who attend Rock For Tots.
While we can’t control Mother Nature, we promise to continue planning, preparing, and improving - especially when it comes to unexpected storms.
Kevin Clifton and Justin Bloomfield do a kick-ass job putting together a stacked lineup each year. Aside from the headliner, the bands donate their time and talents for free, and that kind of generosity and effort does not go unnoticed. Organizing this event requires a great deal of behind-the-scenes work, and we are beyond grateful to everyone who contributes their time and energy to make it happen.
Unfortunately, this year’s rain caused serious issues. Bobaflex’s equipment was soaked, and the soundboard cables and electrical components were sitting in nearly a foot of water. For the safety of our volunteers and to avoid damaging a lot of expensive equipment, canceling the final act was simply out of our hands. We were disappointed, and so was Bobaflex - but the guys have promised to come back next year to headline and deliver a show that won’t be forgotten.
What makes this event so special is how it started - with two people, one with a stage and one with permission to use an open lot, (Rankin’s Lot). From the beginning, it has been powered by sponsorships, volunteers, and a shared goal - to collect toys for our local youth who may not otherwise have the best Christmas without the support of our local Toys for Tots organization.
Year three brought our best turnout yet, and we couldn’t be more thankful. After this year we guarantee you will see improvements each passing year. We want to thank every person who showed up and supported us, who appreciated the hard work that went on behind the scenes and behind the bars to keep you all hydrated.
We will share what was collected at the door after we do a HUGE shopping trip. PICCA will have to show up with their box truck for this haul!
