Fall is upon us here on Chincoteague, and with the changing season comes a shift in our hours, upcoming events, and something sweet to enjoy.

Every year we get asked the same question… “Why are you closed during Pony Swim week?”

The answer is simple—it’s a family tradition.

Don’s Seafood is a third-generation, locally owned and operated restaurant, and our original owner was a true Saltwater Cowboy. Long before the crowds arrived each summer, he closed the restaurant so he could take part in the Pony Swim festivities, and we’ve proudly continued that tradition ever since.

We love celebrating one of Chincoteague’s most cherished events with our family, friends, and community. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep this special tradition alive.

We will be CLOSED Monday through Thursday.

We’ll reopen Friday through Sunday from 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM, and we can’t wait to welcome you back for your favorite seafood!

Not a stomach was empty—folks were gathering ‘round.
The boats were all docked, the oysters on ice,
And everyone whispered, “Soft crabs sound nice…”

So slide into Don’s, don’t wander too far,
