f r i d a y ~

8/28: Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother - ) creates soundscapes using field sounds and archival sound collage in order to create sonic maps that allow us to journey to our buried histories and futures. She is an artist who, through writing, music, film, visual art, socially engaged art, and creative research, explores personal, cultural, familial, and communal cycles of experience, and solutions for transforming oppressive linear temporalities into empowering, alternative temporalities. Her work seeks to inspire practical techniques of vision and agency against a forever expanding re -conquering of land, housing, and health in Black communities.

Check out this clip from "All The Money (feat. Alya Al-sultani)" for a taste of what's coming up.

Moor Mother will be joined by Blacks' Myths & Lily Finnegan for a night of unforgettable music.

✨SUPPORT ADDED✨

9/28: Paige Alice Naylor () is a Chicago-based experimental vocalist, sound artist, technologist and educator. Through sound-making and performance, she investigates the dissolution of time and the breakdown of language with electronically processed voice, tape loops, handmade electronics, field recordings, text scores, multichannel sound, poetry, and repetitive, layered production. Her direct and interpersonal approach creates live sonic environments which feel vulnerable and intimate.

9/29: Hausu Mountain co-founder Max Allison () records under the name Mukqs. He twists elements of ambient, dance music, noise, and free-for-all sample collage into rapidly shifting productions united under the banner of his strictly live, hardware-focused practice which foregrounds improvisation and chance operation. Mukqs music has appeared on labels such as Orange Milk, Umor Rex, Jacktone, Doom Trip, & Husky Pants. His most recent album Juckport was released on Hausu Mountain in June 2026.

🌟 JUST ANNOUNCED 🌟

3/28: Presenting their new album Deuce live for the first time in Chicago, Manu Delago and Max ZT, the two Grammy nominated instrument innovators unite in a bold new duo, reimagining their melodic and percussive instruments to create soundscapes of delicacy, depth and drive. Having met Max ZT 10 years ago when Manu Delago was touring in the US with Bjork, the two musicians formed a striking connection that draws from a lifetime of global collaboration, deep improvisation, and refined compositional craft. Together Manu Delago (handpan) and Max ZT (hammered dulcimer) create immersive, rhythmic, lush, meditative soundscapes.

✨ JUST ANNOUNCED ✨

10/4: Now entering its tenth year, Curiosity is ~Nois Quartet's () annual concert series dedicated to featuring new (and new-ish) music featuring artists with ties to Chicago. What might you hear at a Curiosity show? An hour of drone music? Electronics with weird alien noises? A bad joke told from the stage purely to stall for time while Jordan tries to find a replacement reed because he broke his other one slap tonguing for five minutes straight on the first piece of the program? Well, probably a mix of all three. Whatever it is we play, we invite the listener to get curious with us as we explore the here and now with the groundbreaking new music coming out of the city we call home.

🌟 THIS WEEK 🌟

8/8: Rempis/Abrams/Ra + Baker

This working quartet is a perfect example of what makes Chicago such a fertile breeding ground for improvised music; four musicians of widely varying ages, backgrounds, playing experiences, and musical interests join forces to deliver moments of both sublime beauty and volcanic energy, continually tempered by the seamless narrative momentum that they weave together in a seemingly effortless way.

🌟SUPPORT ADDED🌟

9/17: Squished between shifts at the carwash, physics papers, and soccer games, Racecourse () was formed in the winter of 2022. The indie rock quintet (Reya Langen, Graeme Stage, Jackson Pruett, Ben Chung, and Joaquin Jorgenson) huddled together through muddy Santa Cruz winters in Jackson's bedroom and Graeme's garage. Working with tape machines and laptops, they completed their debut record, July, December, in a cabin by the Yuba River in the winter of 2025. Now living in New York, Racecourse moves forward.
