MKE Punk Fest hires seasoned Chicago booker to take over "MKE Punk Fest Presents" Shows.
Monday, December 3rd, 2018 8am CTL

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin-- MKE Punk Fest founder and organizer Joshua Varichak, announced today that he has hired Milwaukee native Aimee Roll to take over their "M.P.F. Presents" shows. Roll has nearly 20 years of booking experience in Chicago under her belt; namely at the recently deceased The Mutiny in the windy city's Logan Square neighborhood.

As a way to keep the fest alive throughout the year; Varichak started "MKE Punk Fest Presents" in 2016. The production company books DIY Touring Acts, National Acts, and the occasional local showcase. These acts have included the likes of punk legends MDC, and a slew of DIY road warriors including Some Kind of Nightmare, On the Cinder, and The Atom Age.

"With Aimee running our yearly season of shows, I am able to focus more on the fest and will have the time to begin work on my upcoming documentary "Never Gonna Stop: The Story of Some Kind of Nightmare", Varichak said. Varichak spent 2 months on the road with the California band filming their daily life, whilst performing with them on drums.

He added, "I'm familiar with Aimee's work and am certain she'll be able to bring more to the table than I ever could. The list of bands she has contacts with is never ending, and we'll be seeing a new variety of bands coming to Milwaukee. Most of whom would have skipped the city in favor of Chicago. She was the one who gave my band Billy Dreamer their first break in Chicago, during our first tour in 2014. It opened many doors for us down there."

Aimee is in Chicago this week as The Mutiny celebrates its nearly 30 year existence. The venue will open its doors for the last few times to auction off their famed art piece ceiling tiles as well as other mementos. Roll will begin work with MKE Punk Fest starting in 2019.

Hi, Aimee here. Ok, I know I have been a little quiet about The official closing of THE MUTINY CORP. Its beyond emotional, the outpouring of respect, love, and deserved acknowledgement that we started to feel was lost...has finally hit me. I mean 16 years of my life... devoted and dedicated to the man, the institute, the chaos.. No we weren't P.C. Yes we talked, we sang, we did not lead our lives with the most popular opinions. Yes, it was an organized chaos! We had the best and beautiful behind us. We were not posers. In fact hipsters hate us! But! We were real and we're more popular worldwide than in our own city,HEY! Anthony Bourdain chose us over many other well deserved establishments. I'm not quoting Ed, its true. I have so many stories 7 days a week, daytime. nighttime. Ed Mroz gave us a place to explore who we were. I'm touched, and honored to have been part of something so unique, personal, perfect. I saw life, death, birth, love, hate, pain, pleasure and most of all freedom of expression. Unless you were a dick and then "GO TO QUENCHERS" across the street. Its truly been an honor and a pleasure. Everyday made me who I am. We love you all. So here's the deal! The Mutiny is having a sale this Wed thru Friday. BUT!!!! This is for real. Come with money $$$. Be cool. This is not the last blast. This is called support, After its over. We'll find a place and a time to have that party. I promise.... As far as me its official. I've been hired in my hometown Milwaukee, WI, to book the 2019 season for Milwaukee Punk Fest Presents. We here at Milwaukee Punk Fest are super sad to hear of the permanent closing of the legendary dive bar The Mutiny in Chicago. But we're happy to announce that we've hired Aimee Roll (Mutiny's bartender/booking manager) to take over MKE Punk Fest Presents shows starting in the 2019 season! She's returned home to Milwaukee after 16 years and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her join the MPF family and community. Lots of big things in the works; including film fests, national acts, and more! Details and official announcements to come, stay tuned.....
