Dearest Box friends & family,
The Box started of as a restaurant that was focused on bringing good food, fast and quick to its consumers. It quickly had to adapt to being a small space next to a large construction zone. What was supposed to be 3 months "tops", turned into more than 2 years. We reconfigured our plan and prevailed as a thriving music spot. The Box, a little hole in the wall became a place where regional and national acts would come down after their sold out shows at The Pavilion, The Paramount, and The Jefferson and see ton of amazing local and regional acts. The city once said " I don't know how you're still open" and we were MORE than open, but growing. It has been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life. I have made a ton of friends, met some truly great people, and I've seen shows I never expected. We were the first to put on block parties and host acts that played hours before to sold out crowds in much larger venues. We never once charged. We should never have lasted but, did thanks to YOU!
This party has gone on longer then it ever should have, and a what party it's been! But like every party, it has to come to an end. It has been a long fun ride! I've learned so much about the business and the Charlottesville people. I speak for everybody at The Box when I say, THANK YOU, ALL OF YOU, FOR EVERYTHING! Thank you for your support, thanks to our neighbors for putting up with us, and thanks to all of our supporters for making us what we were! It's been so much fun! With every beginning there is an end, and and with every end there is a new beginning.
Cheers and as Miyagi would say "sinara."
