Charlottesville,
Draft Taproom has decided to close our doors tonight until the global health situation is more stable. We will use the time to do some remodeling and will have a decent number of hours for our staff to help. That said, if anyone in the community needs some temporary help (yard work during the Spring?), please e-mail [email protected],and we would love to connect you with our hard-working staff.
To our staff: Thanks for your understanding during this time, and we are committed to making sure everyone is healthy and stable for as long as it takes.
To our Government: We urge you to think about a policy for all bars and restaurants. If we assume customer demand is going to be cut by 50%-75%, then we are facing a prisoner’s dilemma. Many places will close to encourage social distancing, but the few that stay open will be full, and those who closed might have been better off staying open to spread the crowd out. Widespread policy might be the only way to fix this dilemma.
To our customers and neighbors: Please stay safe and do your part to Flatten the Curve so that people of all ages will be able to enjoy Charlottesville’s restaurants for a long time to come. Draft Taproom has been around only a few years, but we believe the Food, Beverage and Entertainment scene was the biggest catalyst that turned a great college town into the best little city in America. This economy has been built up for 30 years, and it’s going to be hardest hit these next few months, so do anything you can to buy gift cards, order take out, and support industry folks that are temporarily unemployed, so that everything will pick right up when things are back to normal.
Stay strong, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon.
