“Joe Swick is a native Oregonian winemaker, born in Portland, with roots in the wine industry dating back to 2000 and nearly three decades of harvest experience. After early cellar work with Pinot Noir producers in Oregon, he expanded globally, working vintages in Sonoma County, Australia (Yarra Valley and Tasmania), Portugal’s Douro Valley, and New Zealand. A formative stint in Barolo and Barbaresco in 2012 preceded his return home to found Swick Wines in 2013 with just 180 cases of Pinot Noir.
Today, Swick Wines produces approximately 4,000–5,000 cases annually and remains a small, hands-on operation. Joe works alongside co-winemaker Maureen Eden, who has been part of the project since 2016. The focus remains on vibrant, balanced wines that favor lift and structure over heavier, more jam-driven expressions—staying true to a philosophy of letting the grapes speak for themselves.”
