Join us this Father’s Day weekend for Hop Beard Bonanza on Saturday, June 20th at our Charlotte Taproom in Optimist Hall. We’ll be celebrating all things hoppy, including fresh hoppy releases, a beard competition, DIY beard crafting and live music. Read on for the details on how to join in on the fun!

Double Hop Beard – our forever west coast-style double india pale ale dry-hopped with amarillo, citra, mosaic and simcoe 8.5% abv

Triple Hop Beard - our forever west coast-style triple india pale ale dry-hopped with amarillo, citra, mosaic and simcoe 10% abv

Mango + Pineapple Hop Beard – Our forever west-coast style India pale ale conditioned on mango + pineapple 7% abv

Come as you are, decorate your beard, or create a beard and show it off. There will be three different categories for judging and prizes -

Longest Beard - this one explains itself. For those of you who’ve been in the beard game for the long-haul.
Fancy Beard - decorate your beard however you like! Styled, embellished, bedazzled - the world is yours.
Creative Beard - what you lack in whiskers, you make up for in creativity! This category is for those of us who are naturally beardless, but excited to show off your creations.

// a west coast-style double india pale ale hopped with mckenzie, strata and vista

A dual collaborative effort, we amped up our standard west coast crusher in coordination with our main man Jason Glunt of of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mashed with our standard base of local two row pilsner malt along with a dash of dextrin malt and flaked oats for a sturdy bod. Intensely hopped in the brewhouse and fermenter with a blend of mckenzie, strata and vista. Fermented with our preferred and classic house westy yeast strain for maximum dryness and ultimate crushability.

With a backbone boasting firm assertive bitterness and full hop saturation, this clear and crushy dubby west coasty has us smitten with the hop blend. Showcasing big notes of pink lemonade, grapefruit marm and candied pear with an assertive virginia pine needle presence bursting throughout.

Based on Todd and Jason’s mutual love affair and nostalgic infatuation with the classic midwestern dive bar. Though not the typical beer style you’d consume at these drab haunts, we also wouldn’t mind the chance to slug a few of these surrounded by wooden wall laminate. Named for one of the most common fixtures, no proper dive bar is complete without a chip rack, and in this case, a double chip rack.

Mashed with a blend of local barley malt along with malted oats, raw wheat and a touch of honey malt. Fermented with our preferred low flocc and thick mouthed yeast strain for a full
bodied juicy pale ale experience. Hopped intensely in the fermenter with a blend of citra, galaxy and mosaic. Bursting with tropical fruit-forward aromatics, this pale ale is saturated with some of our very favorite hops. After just one sip, this tropical treat will have you smacking those lips and uttering loudly, “Well, I’ll Be!”.
