Hard to believe it’s been 3 months to the day since I temporarily and voluntarily (that’s right, Hanna Raskin, TEMPORARILY AND VOLUNTARILY) closed the doors to The Barrel. I’d venture to say that every day within those 3 months I’ve had at least one person reach out to me to ask how they can help. Which I have greatly appreciated, but have never had an answer to give. Well today I have an answer. If you live in the City of Charleston you can help by voting for CAROLINE PARKER for City Council today. Caroline is a longtime James Islander who wants what’s best for James Island and will do what she can, if elected, to assist in the re-opening of The Barrel. Carol Jackson is your current District 12 representative who is responsible for the temporary closure of your and your pups’ favorite James Island bar. She sits on the Traffic and Transportation committee and is responsible for the 17 No Parking signs that were put up around The Barrel about a year ago. She made no effort that I am aware of to reach out to me, one of her constituents, for a solution to the parking situation prior to making this unilateral move. If that’s the type of person you want making decisions for our amazing island community then, by all means, vote for her. But if you want someone who will be fair and listen to all of her constituents then please go vote for CAROLINE PARKER today!
