On June 7, National Cancer Survivors Day, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and hope of those who have faced cancer. We also recognize the families, caregivers, and loved ones who walk alongside them every step of the way. At Family House, we see these journeys every day.
One of those journeys belongs to Millie Taylor. Diagnosed with multiple myeloma and breast cancer, Millie has stayed at SECU Family House on and off since 2016 while receiving care with UNC Health.
A retired textile worker from Roanoke Rapids, Millie describes Family House as “such a home environment. People care here. Everyone is so kind. It’s quiet and comforting.”
Supported by excellent medical care, her husband Steve of 51 years, a strong faith, and advanced treatments, Millie continues her journey with grace and gratitude. Her advice is simple: “You’ve got to keep going and stay positive.”
Today, honor a survivor who has touched your life by making a gift to help provide comfort, community, and affordable lodging for families traveling to UNC Hospitals for life-saving treatment. ❤️
