I am very saddened by the news the world received today regarding her passing.
She loved the g**s and we loved her.
Parton has been a beloved and outspoken ally to the LGBTQ+ community for decades, championing radical acceptance, love, and inclusivity. Lifelong Allyship and AdvocacyRadical Acceptance: Parton frequently stated that judging others is "God's job," emphasizing that people should be allowed to live authentically. Early Representation: In 1991, she released the song "Family" on her album Eagle When She Flies, using the word "gay" positively in country music. Supporting Marriage Equality: She publicly supported same-sex marriage years before it was legalized nationwide in the U.S., famously quipping that gay couples "should be allowed to suffer like us heterosexuals." Defending the Community and Facing BacklashDollywood Stand: Her theme park, Dollywood, faced backlash and threats from religious groups and the K*K for hosting "Gay Days," but Parton refused to cancel the events, maintaining that her park welcomes all families. Art and Empathy: In 2005, she wrote the Oscar-nominated song "Travelin' Thru" for the transgender-themed film Transamerica, noting that art has the power to change prejudiced minds.
