McMenamins Olympic Club

McMenamins Olympic Club In central Washington State, The Olympic Club Hotel's legend looms large.

Here you'll find a historic building – filled with warm woods and period details – steeped in colorful tales of countless gamblers' jackpots, revenuer raids, dark secrets deeply buried, and a famous bandit's bravado. The Olympic Club has been a point of power, intrigue and contention since opening in 1908. Its name evokes heroic gods of ancient Herculean characters, the exploits of whom are now the stuff of modern legend. McMenamins has expanded upon the Olympic Club's traditional definition of a workingman's resort by welcoming the whole family to enjoy lodging, meals, movies, art, history, sport and special events. Throughout the Olympic Club historic photographs and extensive original artwork chronicle the building's intriguing history.

The hallways are always alive. Even when no one’s there. 👀

The Olympic Club has seen its fair share of infamous moments over the years. These storied halls have held more characters, secrets, and stories than we could ever count.

With that many personalities passing through over the years, it was probably only a matter of time before a few decided to stick around.

So if you’re walking these halls and suddenly feel like you’re not alone…

You might not be.

It happens. You stop at Olympic Club once only because it’s convenient along your I-5 drive. 🚙

Then you realize it’s not just convenient.

It’s interesting. It’s comfortable. There’s plenty to do. And suddenly “we should stop here again sometime” becomes “we should probably book a room next time.”

A very common progression around here.

McMenamins Coffee Roasters has been roasting coffee in Northeast Portland since 2001. We roast more than 70,000 pounds of coffee every year, in small batches and deliver it fresh to our locations weekly. ☕

And we’re pretty particular about what goes into those beans.

We source high-quality Coffea arabica from small farms and co-ops in some of the world’s best coffee-growing regions, prioritizing sustainable and equitable growing practices whenever possible.

From the farmers who grow it to our roasting team who brings out all those complex flavors, every cup has a whole lot of care behind it.

How does a military fort disappear from local history for more than 100 years? 👀

Find out at History Pub: Why Fort Steilacoom Disappeared Between 1868 and 1978, Tuesday, September 15th at Olympic Club.

Walter Neary will dig into the story of Fort Steilacoom, what happened after it closed, and how local historians worked to bring its history back to light.

And yes, there will be drinks. Because history class is better with a bar nearby. 🍻

Plus, History Pub attendees get 15% off their hotel stay that night and a coveted History Pub Stamp.

Our artists have been out and about! 🎨

The McMenamins artists recently made a stop at Olympic Club to create some new artwork for the space.

Which means there’s officially more art to look at! Time to wander.
