Nine years ago, Smokers Abbey opened its doors with one simple hope: that this would become a place where you could find rest for your soul.

Last night, we watched that hope become real all over again. The lounge was full. The laughter was loud. The Little Green One made its debut, a cigar built with love for our son, and we got to share that moment with all of you. Edgar Hoill brought his full line and his heart. Needles buzzed in the corner while ci**rs burned slow in every hand.

Nine years of this community showing up, again and again, is not something we take lightly. Every face in that room last night is a reminder of why we do this. Not for the ci**rs alone, but for the connection they make room for.

Thank you for nine years. Thank you for last night. Here's to many more.

We could not have asked for a better way to end this week.

Regulars, longtime friends, family, and new friends all found their way to the Abbey this evening, and it meant more than we can put into words. But this photo is the original four.

When we opened the shop in 2017, weplanned to run it ourselves. We had no idea that six months in, we would get the call about Quillen. Kevin and Rob, customers since day one, stepped in without hesitation. They told us to go, and that they would take care of the rest.

They did then, and they still do now. Through family situations, personal health situations, and recent scheduling complications, they take the reins without question and keep things moving forward. Their support is the reason we have been able to put our family first while still running this business.

We are forever grateful for these two, and we loved every minute of reminiscing over the past nine years tonight. Kevin and Rob, you have become family to us.

Make a day of it. Full slate of college football, kicking off at 2:30 with Alabama-Kentucky, Utah State-Washington, and Rice-Notre Dame, then 6:30 brings LSU-Louisiana Tech, Texas-Ohio State, and Texas Tech-Oregon State. We'll have it all on.

Bring your people, bring some drinks, order in some food, and camp out with us all afternoon.

Then stick around, because tonight we're celebrating nine years of Smokers Abbey with Edgar Hoill, Pablo Rammsy doing tattoos, and the release of Little Green One. One day, two reasons not to leave.

In 2019, we worked with Ezra Zion Cigar Company to create a cigar for Quillen. His name means Cub. Kyle from Warped graciously let us name the cigar after him. Years later, people still have those ci**rs, and a number of them post every year on his birthday when they smoke one. It's become a small, wonderful way for our cigar community to celebrate our boy's life alongside us.

Both of our boys have Irish heritage, and it mattered to us that their names carried it.

Oran means little green one, or song. Our little boy has incredible volume, almost comical, and he's recently started singing. He also loves being outside in nature. Both fit the name better than we could've planned.

That's why the cigar we're releasing for him on September 12 is called Little Green One, and why it's wrapped in candela.

Our boys have an unbelievable bond. They're the best of friends. Quillen loves being a big brother, and Oran is enthralled with Quill.

In July 2016, we began the process of adoption, and in March 2018, just six months after Smokers Abbey opened its doors, we welcomed our first son, Quillen. We immediately began learning what it meant to run a business and raise a baby in the same breath.

We'd just started talking about adopting again when COVID hit. We were told there weren't many families looking at the time, but there weren't many moms looking to place either, so we kept moving forward, growing the business and our family of three. That stretch of waiting ended up shaping us more than we expected, it gave us an intense, unplanned season to build our relationship as a family.

Then in 2023, Quillen's birth mom called. She was pregnant again, and she asked if we wanted to adopt. We said yes immediately, and welcomed Oran into our family in January 2024.

To celebrate Nine years of Smokers Abbey it seemed fitting to make a cigar for Oran, the same way we did for Quillen back in 2019.

We'll keep telling the story throughout the week, with a few glimpses of the boys along the way. Stay tuned.
