Open Mic Competition hosted by Morgan James is a community event open to musicians of all ages to compete for weekly prizes. Each session will be 12 weeks leading up to a finale whereby previous weekly winners will compete for a grand prize. This event is intended as a supportive environment for musicians to perform new material for a live audience, network for collaborations, mingle with industry

professionals, build fan bases, sell albums, links, promo materials, etc., all the while in a friendly competition for great prizes.

And the winner is... VersaStyle! What a show! The Grand Finals event was brought an enthusiastic crowd cheering on all eight of our grand finalists. Each contestant powered through incredible performances and kept the audience and the judges clapping and hollering. The CV Open Mic Competition at The Block Sports Bar & Grill has officially come to a beautiful end this session and the Grand Finals couldn't have been more fun. T-shirts from Brutal Bee Music Group were offered to a packed house this week as photos and videos flashed throughout the evening. Special thanks to our judges: Ed Cellucci- Professional Drummer and Musician who played in the Disneyland band and who studied at UNLV and under the principal percussionist for the Denver Symphony Orchestra. Jeremy Climer- Played and toured with multiple bands for 20+ years and is the Southern California Sales Rep for Crater Lake Spirits. Jeannette Krehbiel- owner of local live music venue Plan B Live Entertainment & Cocktails and avid music supporter and fan. Moe Cheez- Founder of Brutal Bee Music Group and internationally recognized recording artist with his music placed in Showtime's Shameless as well as 106 and Park. Once the scores were tallied, it was Comedic Rapper, VersaStyle, who stole the show and won ALL of the grand prizes: an MTV Quality Music Video Production from Desert C.A.M. Studios/Winmill Films and award winning Director Chip Miller, plus a trip to Las Vegas from Crater Lake Rye Whiskey, as well as an Artist Development Session from Grammy nominated Producer Ronnie King, a Promotional Photo Shoot from Rav Holly, and an Artist Merchandise Package from Brutal Bee Music Group including logo design and 25 t-shirts, stickers and more!

What a show! The Semi Finals event was thoroughly entertaining as all 14 contestants brought their best and performed for our esteemed judges at The Block Sports Bar & Grill in Cathedral City. The CV Open Mic Competition is nearing an end with just our Grand Finals event remaining. T-shirts from Brutal Bee Music Group were offered to a cheering crowd this week as photos and videos flashed throughout the evening. Special thanks to our judges: Will Sturgeon- Musical Director for AMP, producer, and frontman for award winning band brightener, Steve Johns- award winning event and club promoter, Jay Badger- avid music fan and son of an esteemed music producer, William Randall aka WillDaBeast- incredible rapper and touring performing artist. Once the scores were tallied, 8 performers were chosen to move on to the Grand Finals. Our Grand Finalists are: VersaStyle, Desert Pirates, Stone Grain, Josh Mathews, Bo of the Buck and Bo Roadshow, Alpine Alien, Novelist, and Marine Sandpiper. Winner will take all at the Grand finals event on May 24th- an MTV Quality Music Video Production from Desert C.A.M. Week #12 of the CV Open Mic Competition 2017 at The Block Sports Bar & Grill in Cathedral City wrapped a fun filled session as 1st place was a tie and the two final winners will be competing in the Semi Finals next week. T-shirts from Brutal Bee Music Group were given away to several of our cheering fans as they enjoyed great food and Crater Lake Rye Whiskey specials! Live video feeds filled social media just like every week as fans posted about their favorite performances. Our big winners of 1st place, however, were awarded to hip hop group MDH Affiliates who decided to take home a $25 gift card to Stuft Pizza, as well as Nasty Dawg who chose to take home a $20 gift certificate to The Lunchbox in Palm Desert. Both acts will now move on to the Semi Finals on May 17th. If either or both wins there, the act will compete in the Grand Finals on May 24th for an MTV Quality Music Video Production from Desert C.A.M. Studios/Winmill Films and award winning Director Chip Miller, plus a trip to Las Vegas from Crater Lake Rye Whiskey, as well as an Artist Development Session from Grammy nominated Producer Ronnie King, a Promotional Photo Shoot from Rav Holly, and an artist merchandise package from Brutal Bee Music Group including logo design and 25 t-shirts, stickers and more! 2nd place was awarded to Jeremy Goodlander of 5 Acre Dream who took home 2 movie tickets from Cinemark Theatres.
