Cartersville Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival

Cartersville Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival Join us on October 19, 2019 for the 7th annual Cartersville Bluegrass and Folk Festival. FREE Admission + FREE Music!

In October 2013, the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Program introduced the Cartersville Bluegrass and Folk Festival. A free event, featuring two stages, and a kids’ area, the festival was designed to help promote the community, local musicians, and the historic downtown district. The event was a huge hit and expanded in 2014 to include a vendor area and two headlining

bands. The 2014 event was also successful and won an award from the Historic High Country Association for Best Event with Attendance of 2,500+. 2015 saw more growth still, with the introduction of our festival zone ordinance for beer and wine sales and in 2016 we are looking to grow again. We have a line-up of 14 performers from local, to regional, to nationally known groups that you can find on our website (www.cartersvillebluegrass.com). This is also where we update our vendor list and sponsorship information so people can stay up to date as our event progresses. We can't wait to see you on October 29, 2016!

Today we have TWO BAND SPOTLIGHTS!!
Flatt & Strugglin' and Old Mill Road Band

Flatt & Strugglin’ is a newly formed bluegrass band full of seasoned professionals based in the NW Georgia area. All members have worked with national and regional artists in both bluegrass and country genres over the years. Their influences range from traditional/modern bluegrass to country music. Their hard-driving sound mixed with 3 part harmony is a definite crowd pleaser and very entertaining! Matt Thornton is also the guitarist for local country band favorite Babe’s Bayou.

Old Mill Road Band is a traditional leaning bluegrass band from Bartow country with ripping instrumentals, smooth vocalization, and multi-layered harmonies makes their sound adaptable regardless of the genre. They have played at every Cartersville Bluegrass Festival since the beginning. They’re always a crowd favorite and sure to have you up on your feet in no time. The band members like to entertain the crowd with some great stories that will have you rolling with laughter.

We are FIVE DAYS OUT from our 7th Annual Bluegrass and Roots Festival! Check out one of our last Band Spotlights!!

The Wiseman Brothers:
Growing up in the mountains of Western North Carolina, Donovan and Devon Wiseman were exposed to traditional Bluegrass, Country, and Gospel Music from an early age. Like the Stanley Brothers, the Monroe Brothers, the Osborne Brothers, and Jim & Jesse McReynolds, these two up-and-coming musicians hope to preserve the sound of traditional Bluegrass music. Donovan’s smooth vocals and strong guitar solos coupled with the Scruggs-style banjo playing and tenor singing of his brother Devon make for a nostalgic, traditional sound. The Wiseman Brothers are joined on mandolin by Jay Moore with his hot-licks and baritone vocals. Drew Lawson brings an unmatched energy along with a tremendous tone and feel on the upright bass. The Wiseman Brothers hope to give listeners a taste of traditional Bluegrass Music and allow this music to live on for future generations to enjoy.

We are six days out from our 7th Annual Bluegrass and Roots Festival! Check out this artist spotlight on one of our festival performers, Jayron!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!!! Jayron

Quicksand, shotguns, and fiery sermons all paint the background to where Jayron began laying his musical roots. He was raised roaming the hills of Georgia, exploring old copper mines and railroad trestles, while indulging a steady diet of Bluegrass, Gospel, Soul, and Country Gold. Jayron couples that backdrop with an arsenal of influences that range from Alison Krauss to Steve Earl, from Vince Gill to the Wallflowers. Jayron puts a stamp on his music that crosses over genre lines. In March of 2007, Jayron helped form the duo band, “Blue-Eyed Grass”. The duo released three albums gaining recognition on Gibson Guitars’ list, “Best New Musicians”. The duo toured together until January of 2011. Jayron has toured all over the U.S. and Canada. He’s also shared the stage with country music’s headliners, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Sugarland, Josh Turner, and many others. He’s appeared on several television shows, including USA network’s “Nashville Star”, CMT’s “Can You Duet”, Fox’s “American Idol”, and ABC’s 20/20.

Jayron will be accompanied by singer, songwriter, guitarist Hailey Fletcher. Together they host a songwriter’s night at The Local Bar & Grill in Cartersville every other Tuesday night.
