Lake Joy Farmstead

Lake Joy Farmstead We invite you to hang out with us here or on our little property near Lake Joy in Carnation, WA. We think you will like it here. We sell a few things.

Our journey to own our own farm goes back awhile and our dream came true in the Spring of 2020. We are Mike and Dominica, 6 kids, and a whole bunch of animals. We have classes that we host ranging from cast iron care to pickling. We sell meat shares of our beef, pork and chickens. We even sell eggs and some produce! We also have some farm store items with our Blacksmith Trading Company line that d

eveloped out of a father-son conversation in 2017 around handmade items, specifically in brewing, distilling, and fermentation. The result is a lot of fun and we think you will like it too.

Happy St. Patrick's Day from us at the farm! ☘️ -

St. Patrick’s day in America is special. Rich, poor, red, yellow, black and white, we are equal for one day, March 17th, each year. It is a beautiful thing.  I have written a lot about St. Patrick's day, the food, the drink and more importantly, the man.  There are some links below you may enjoy...

Want to know how to support farmers in the area? Go to a pop up or other market and buy small batch, handmade products. We all work hard and for most of us it’s a la lot of love. We are at the Filson flagship store tonight, and will be at the Salish Lodge tomorrow. Come out and see us, but more importantly support other people doing the same thing!

Chili, like a lot of comfort foods, has as many opinions as versions. Maybe your Grandpa DID make the best. I don’t know. What I do know however is that our Chuck Wagon Texas-Style Chili is fantastic and super easy to make. Simply put, “Texas-style” means no beans and when you are in a meat forward home like we are, the ingredients are on hand. Prep the meat and add our chili dump to the rest of the recipe, simmer, and then serve.

You can find the full recipe here.

Great for that Tuesday night dinner or on game day!

Did a little write up on Saint Andrew, the patron Saint of farmers, farmhands and fisherman and how the liturgical year syncs up beautifully with the natural rhythm of of the farming calendar going WAY BACK in Europe and then in our country. I think you will like it and it is something we are trying to practice at our little farm. The super short version? Wrap it all up by end of November and prepare for Advent.

We spent a few minutes to wrap up our pastured poultry program for 2025 which included all of our meat chickens, as well as our turkey, including some lessons and awesome takeaways. A special shout out to all of our families that supported us through this and were excellent customers!
