This year marks 15 years since BearWaters became an incorporated NC craft brewery. We started off in a converted storage building in Waynesville and over the years grew into a three location success story. Our turning point came in October of 2017 when we purchased what would become our headquarters and production facility in Canton NC. Canton quickly wrapped its arms around us and helped us grow into a sizable business. The incredible moments we made within that building will never be forgotten. The countless friends we made, the notable awards we won and the joy that united a town has been nothing short of amazing. Although these precious moments that every business hopes to achieve have been the backbone of our story, we too have had our share of challenges and catastrophe. Surviving not one but two flooding events and a pandemic has tested our resolve beyond a point that would have closed many other companies. Our fight and our drive to come back time and time again was born from the bond we have built within our community. We are now in a season of change. As the cold dark grip of winter begins to loosen, and the hope of spring is upon us, We have come to a moment in our journey where we know it is time to usher in the next generation of opportunities for Canton. It is in that spirit we are announcing that BearWaters Brewing will be consolidating down to a single location. We will be turning over operations to a new venture in Canton that will be called Currents Tavern. We are excited to see what Canton Native Sherrill Rathbone and his partners will add to Canton"'s food and beverage scene. BearWaters will remain in Maggie Valley and continue to operate with the same great food and beverages. Additionally BearWaters will work alongside the new management group in Canton to provide outdoor recreation and tubing out of our small building on the corner of Penland Street. While we know this is a big change, we feel a fresh set of eyes and a new energy is exactly what Canton needs following the vast destruction of Helene. Our Last day of service in Canton will be February 28th and we have a special Last Call party planned with a celebration concert by The Darren Nicholson Band. We will have some fun events to watch for between now and then. Please come by and allow us to thank you for all your love and support you have given us over the last few years. Again thank you for all the incredible memories and we look forward to seeing you soon.
