We always have the best people at our dances. Thursday during the 18th Annual Valentine Dance was just that, great people, bands and dancing.

It is with great sadness to advise that our long time friend, Gerald has passed. He and his wife Joyce danced with us for many years.

Funeral services for Gerald Ragland Payne, 99, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, February 28, 2026, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm, prior to the service.

Gerald was born on February 11, 1927, in Gilmer, Texas, to Frank Brady Payne and Minnie Lee Rials Payne, and passed from this life on February 25, 2026, in Gilmer, Texas. Gerald proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He married Joyce Elaine Duncan on April 12, 1952, in Texarkana, Arkansas.

Jim Fuller is honorary pallbearer.
