Why should you listen to Hal Galper play this Friday, November 15 at 7pm?
Because Hal is taking a lengthy hiatus to focus on the written word and it may be your last opportunity to witness the legend. Hal is an accomplished writer and known as an educator internationally who has been published many times. This is an extension of Hal’s passion. He has no plans at this time to take the stage again. Not for a while, at least.
Why should you listen to Hal Galper this Friday? Because it’s a rare opportunity to see real excellence and creativity on a level rarely heard. This is a man who has literally devoted his life to music and the piano. Not as a hobby or a side gig but as a lifelong study…a philosophy of music. An obsession. Hal has played with the likes of Chet Baker and Stan Getz…he’s accompanied vocalists such as Joe Williams, Anita O’day and Chris Connor. He played with the Cannonball Adderley Quintet and recorded with numerous legends including guitarist John Scofield. For the last 6 years it has been an absolute honor to have had Hal Galper take the stage at Rafter’s Tavern almost exclusively. We feel deeply grateful to have had the opportunity to host a legend such as Hal Galper. Even if jazz isn’t your bag you should still take this opportunity to see Hal this Friday. It’s a chance to see the world according to Hal Galper. A chance to listen to a legend. A chance to witness excellence.
