Absolute Magic: A New Chapter for Maine Folk at Camp Hinds. That's really the only way to describe this year's inaugural event.
Maine Folk started at Point Sebago, moved to Thomas Point Beach, and has now found a home at Camp Hinds. When Thomas Point Beach was sold, it felt like the story might be over before it really got going.
Instead, it became the beginning of something else.
Camp Hinds is a rustic, lakeside Scout camp on Panther Pond in Raymond, Maine a serene pine forest meeting a peaceful lakeside backdrop at a legendary, multigenerational campground. It carries the same easy, unhurried rhythm that makes a weekend like this feel like more than just a festival.
Old friends found each other, and new friends were made. That's the thing about a gathering like this: nobody stays a stranger for long.
The music carried through the trees, weaving through brunch, coffee, and conversation, while dream-like performance arts turned the stage into something more than just music. Vendors lined the paths with handmade wares, local makers, and the kind of creative energy that makes you want to slow down and talk to every single one of them.
There's a particular kind of joy that comes from watching something you love end, only to begin anew. Maine Folk is a feeling.
Smiles all around. Music in the air. A community starting fresh, together.
