Hello out there! Just wanted to say, thank you all for keeping Vital Joint alive so that we can imagine filling the space back up with people, art, laughs, dancing, sweat, animals, ridiculousness, food props, technical difficulties, group gasps, and all the hugs. I have always been a fan of the future.

Hello dear friends of Vital Joint.
We apologize for keeping mum as, day after day, our hearts break a little more.
We did not want to let go of the hope of small gatherings until it was certain that it is our duty to you, ourselves, the artists making work in the space, that we gotta close until it is safe to re-open.
We love you all and are grateful to the communities that have flourished in our creepy little basement for over 3 years. I have personally laughed more than one person ought to laugh in a lifetime, just based on very accurate math.
And I have spent countless hours working away (with a whiskey) post show to make sure that more shows will continue to happen.
For all that is good and lovely in existence, I want Vital Joint to re-open!
If you can find it in your hearts/pocketbooks to donate to help us pay our rent, we would deeply appreciate it. We are scared but filled with hope that we can make it through this and not have to close permanently due to lack of funds. What a dumb reason to have to close when capitalism is crumbling anyway!

Starting up a fresh round of Brooklyn Comedy Collective classes at Vital Joint next month, still room for new students in this Level 1 stand up course w/ Milly Tamarez. Register at the link below.

"Have you always wanted to perform stand-up but don't know where to begin? In this class, we will breakdown how to get started writing a stand-up routine and find your voice as a comedian. Our methods will include how to mine personal stories for material, how to write one-liners and premises, and how to use improvisation to generate ideas instead of staring down a blank page. Classes will also give students the lay-of-the-land on the NY comedy scene - from welcoming weekly open mics to the best shows to see pros in action. Every class will include stage time to try out original material in front of classmates."

Join us Saturday night for Dead Beat with Maggie Crane

Maggie Crane can’t stop talking about death. She likes to ruin parties, Thanksgiving at her ex's parents house, first dates and last dates by asking people what they want to happen with their body after they die or who they think killed Jon Benét Ramsey (brother!), so she decided to slap on that record button, because there are only two certainties in this life: everyone dies and everyone starts a podcast. Dead Beat is at it's best a podcast about the normalization of death and how society copes with mortality and at it's worst Maggie ripping way too many Lime-A-Rita's and yelling about the 9 circles of hell.
