Skaalvenn Distillery Our goal is to make the finest spirits in Minnesota--at a price everyone can afford. Skål Venn! / 10-19-2020 - Our Japanese inspired cocktail bar is now open.

Please try to make a reservation before stopping in--we naturally have extremely limited seating, and we would hate to turn you away due to being at capacity. Our spirits are distributed to over 400 locations across Minnesota. If your local store does not carry the product you want, please ask them--they'll typically gladly start carrying it for you.

June is a very special month for me (Tyson) as I'm coming up on 1 year of having my lung transplant. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for EVERYONE in the entire healthcare system and I want to give my thanks to all the workers. Imagine if the cleaning staff took a day off, if payroll didn't get run, if people weren't around to wheel me down for a CT scan, to fix broken equipment, etc.

There’s a lot of people behind the scenes who I have to thank—in addition to the people who did obvious things like mashing the "SHOCK" button to get my heart to stop playing around...or ya know, being a thoracic surgeon. I appreciate the hell out of ‘em all because it truly takes a team. There's no way the transplant would have happened without the surgeon, and there's no way he would have operated if the room wasn't clean.

I always said that the most important person in our building is the custodian. I learned that first hand when I took 3 months off and everything was fine. If the custodians took 3 days off everyone would definitely know.

The most important people aren’t always the most visible. Always remember that.

So for the month of June, if you work in a hospital or clinic just let us know and you get 15% off your drinks, food and bottles. It's my personal thanks to you. I appreciate you helping me and other people being here and being able to get the care we need. Thank you!

It's hot out, and the best cure for that is a slushy daiquiri made to order with -350°F liquid nitrogen--made to order--for only $12

Why liquid nitrogen? By using something so ridiculously cold it makes ice freeze into ultra small crystals that are impossible to replicate with a blender or any other method. Think Dip'n Dots, but as a slushy, and we've got 4 flavors available right now.

They're available until 6pm because we're making them to order and we can't keep up with them during the evening rush--Skaalvenn Distillery is a craft cocktail bar NOT a tap cocktail bar.

Happy Syttende Mai, Norway’s Independence Day! Here’s our aquavit in the Lofoten islands of 🇳🇴 back in July 2024 and Tyson doing some behind the scenes work. Our favorite way to drink aquavit at home is in a mule, which we call The Fjord Horse. (In our cocktail bar at Skaalvenn, we jazz it up with housemade ginger beer,

Years ago we said we didn't like gin had no plans of making it 🤭 Then, we traveled to Japan, discovered Japanese yuzu and yuzu gins. A little context: We bought the "Easter 🐇" costume to offer some fun photo booth opportunities in the bar...but then Tyson had a little dip in his health and we decided it wasn't the greatest idea to be in a hot costume and in close proximity to a lot of people. Sooo, next year?

But, now that we have all the equipment for a photo booth, who thinks we should build an actual one?

Cambodian New Year is April 16, 17, and 18 at Skaalvenn Distillery! One of the underrepresented Asian groups in Minnesota are the Cambodians/Khmer--we've got our own new year which means we get to celebrate THREE TIMES!

Mary's the daughter of 🇰🇭 immigrants who fled the Khmer Rouge in the late 70s and settled in MN. Luke actually lived there for 17 years. We've even had customers recognize him from being behind the bar in Cambodia!

Come try some new flavors in cocktails, new foods, and maybe Mary and Luke will teach you a few words or phrases. P.S. Luke is really good at the FUN phrases 😏

You probably won't celebrate Cambodian New Year at any bar other than Skaalvenn. No need to buy a plane ticket to taste the world--just make a reservation with us!

Give them a round of applause for keeping the company going through all Tyson's health crap over the last couple years--plus the day to day stuff that is already not easy to do. They deserve every bit of recognition!

As the owner, it's not easy being gone, but it really isn't easy stepping up and taking on the immense challenge of running the ship while the captain is away. These guys are beyond amazing!

Thank you for running this company and saying "I'll help out" instead of "not my job." You're all the best of the best. Could not ask for any better of a crew and we love you all!

And thank you to our customers who stop in to see this crew every weekend! It's a lot of fun to be working with your friends, making new friends, and seeing old friends every night. We love you all, too!
