25 Days of Christmas – Sass-piration | Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of my 25 Days of Christmas – Sass-piration! Today’s card is one that I think is simply adorable in its own right, while still having that touch of elegance that white-on-white always seems to bring. There is just something about those crisp layers against the white card base that gives a card an instant WOW factor!

What I especially love about today’s design is just how versatile the layout is. While I chose a beautiful cardinal image from patterned paper as my focal point, that center piece could just as easily be a stamped image, another image cut from Designer Series Paper, a die-cut shape, or even a favorite photograph. The same goes for the sentiment piece—you can change its shape to complement both your focal image and the overall feel of your card.

For mine, I chose the tag from the Nested Essentials Dies (161597) with those very defined, “sharp,” if you will, diagonal corners. With all of the angles created by the different paper selections on this card, I felt that tag shape carried those lines through the design beautifully.

Here’s another little design detail to notice: the two pieces of paper—the candy cane stripe on the right and the White Willow pattern on the left—are intentionally uneven in width. Rather than centering each individual pattern, think of those two pieces as becoming one larger piece. Together, they are centered on the Cherry Cobbler mat. I then centered that entire mat on the card base before adding the vertical strip of red that runs over the mat and extends all the way to the top and bottom edges of the card front. It’s such a simple addition, but it creates another layer of depth—and you know I can’t resist those little details!

My cardinal focal piece comes directly from the A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper, including those wonderful border details. I popped it up with foam tape, but before adhering it, I tucked a double fold of Real Red 1/4" Stitched Ribbon (168235) behind the left side.

Today’s little trick of the trade: If I’m adding ribbon behind an accent piece that I already plan to pop up with foam tape, I use the foam tape itself to secure the ribbon to the back of the piece. That strong adhesive keeps the ribbon exactly where I want it while I position everything on the card. Once my cardinal was in place, I used my fine-tip scissors to trim the two ribbon ends at opposite angles for a finished look.

For the greeting, I used the sentiment from the Stitched Stocking Stamp Set (168224), stamped in Real Red Classic Ink (147084) onto White Willow cardstock cut with the Nested Essentials Dies (161597). You can adhere your sentiment flat or pop it up with foam tape depending on how much dimension you’d like. I finished mine with a white enamel dot from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots (167180) on each side of the greeting—just enough shine to finish it off without competing with the rest of the card.

For today’s card, I used the A Stitched Season Paper Suite (168223) along with Cherry Cobbler Cardstock (166673) and White Willow Cardstock (166703), plus the Real Red stitched ribbon and those sweet white Moody Palette Glossy Dots.

And remember, Sass-piration is about more than recreating my exact card! Look at the layout, the balance of the patterns, the shapes, the ribbon placement, and the layers—and then imagine what you already have in your craft room that could take its place. One great card design can become so many different cards simply by changing the papers, focal image, sentiment, and embellishments.

Day 1 of 25 Days of Christmas Sass-piration

We’re kicking off 25 Days of Christmas Sass-piration with a card design that I consider truly timeless! There are so many reasons I come back to this style again and again. The combination of patterned papers, coordinating cardstock, and ribbon gives each individual element a chance to shine, while those beautiful diagonal lines add just the right touch of elegance. Add the layered, popped-up mat to a crisp white-on-white card base, and you have a design that looks impressive without being overly complicated.

But can I share my favorite little secret about this design? It’s a fabulous scrap buster! You know those pretty little scraps you just can’t bear to toss because you love the paper too much? This is their moment! Different patterns, colors, textures, and widths actually make this design more interesting. Those treasured scraps get one last chance to bring a little joy—and create something beautiful in the process.

For my card, I used the A Stitched Season Paper Suite (168223) along with Peaceful Pine (167698), Secret Sea (166709), Real Red (166696), and White Willow (166703) cardstock. I also incorporated Real Red 1/4" Stitched Ribbon (168235) and the black dots from the Moody Palette Glossy Dots (167180).

To recreate this design, begin with an inside panel in the size of your choosing. Adhere your corner pieces first—I placed mine in the upper left and lower right—and then begin adding strips of patterned paper, cardstock, and ribbon diagonally across the panel. Don’t be afraid to vary the widths! That variation is part of what gives the finished card so much personality and visual interest. One little tip: if you’re incorporating ribbon, try not to place it directly over a corner. The ribbon is thicker and can be a little more challenging to fold neatly around to the back.

Once all of your diagonal pieces are adhered, flip the panel over and trim away everything that extends beyond the edges. Center and adhere that finished panel onto your second colored mat, and then center and adhere those layers onto your third colored mat.

Before adding the layered piece to your card base, position a longer coordinating strip over the right corner of the card base so that it appears to be a continuation of the matching piece within your focal panel. Flip the card over and trim away the excess. Then adhere your completed layered panel slightly off-center using foam tape to give it that extra dimension and WOW factor.

For the finishing touches, I cut the White Willow tag using the Scalloped Blooms Dies (167646) and stamped the Cheers” sentiment from the Stitched Stocking Stamp Set (168224) in Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pad (147084). I positioned the tag in the lower right, allowing part of it to overlap the layered panel while using foam tape beneath the portion extending beyond the mat for added dimension.

I then fussy cut the patterned star and added it near the lower right of the mat. To finish it off, I tied a simple knot using the Real Red 1/4" Stitched Ribbon (168235) and adhered it to the center of the star with a Mini Glue Dot.

And there you have Day 1 of Christmas Sass-piration: a little elegance, a little dimension, lots of gorgeous pattern, and a very SASSY way to give those beloved scraps a purpose!

Here’s How:
1. Create your layout and write out the journaling you would like to include.
2. Take a photo of your completed layout. This gives ChatGPT a visual reference for the colors,
patterns, theme, and overall feel of your page.
3. Open ChatGPT and paste your journaling into the chat. Then, attach the photo of your
layout.
4. Give ChatGPT your instructions. Ask it to create a journaling space in the exact size you need
and to incorporate the colors, style, and overall feel of your scrapbook layout.

For example, you could say:
“Please create a journaling space that is 4” x 4”. Use the colors and overall feel of my scrapbook
layout as inspiration for the design.”

2. Need a few changes? No problem! Simply tell ChatGPT what you would like to adjust. You
