So when Mike and I bought the Bristol tap six years ago , besides it being such a an iconic place .. I couldn’t have been more excited about the CHILI!! if you know me, I will eat chili morning night , seven days a week, and this chili has always held a place in my heart ❤️
When JOE was showing me how to make it for the first time, I had lots of questions for him of course😂 and you know he loves to talk😂 and then one question I asked him was how did you get this recipe?
This is what he shared with me and I will share it with you:
1979 was the year.. JOE said an old sailor who was a chef , his name was Carl he lived behind little Joe’s in downtown yorkville.. He would make Joe the chili and Joe would buy it from him and serve it . But he had to stop making it because at that time his landlord was upset that he was using too much gas to make the chili! So he had to give it to JOE so Joe could make it in the kitchen and that’s how the Bristol tap chili came to life! September 1st is opening day for chili. It’s cooking as we speak right now or as I text and it would be good to go tomorrow.! Chili at the Bristol tap signals Fall is coming & football is just around the corner! 🐻⬇️
