After over 4 years of deliciousness, hard work and undying community support, WBBC is sad and also excited to announce that Saturday June 10 will be our last night for the kitchen (also the Bridgeport Beach Blowout Block Party on Halsell so come on out for specials and a great time!). The kitchen will be open regular hours until June 10.

We have an amazing new concept that we hope y’all will love and we hope will be a great asset to Bridgeport. The bar/ brewery will be open regular hours during the week of June 12, and will continue to be open, new and improved as a place to bring family and friends to have a blast on Halsell Street.
A million thank you’s to all who’ve supported us, we can’t wait till you see what’s next 🤍🍻

“From Pharmacy to Brewery – How we started”

In 1900 my Grandfather, Francis J. Townsend, opened his first Pharmacy in Ocean City, Maryland. Both a Doctor and Pharmacist, he spent a lifetime caring for the residents of the small coastal community. His prescription for sunburnt visitors was a simple salve, a concoction of ingredients that satisfied even the most demanding patient. That salve, Magice Prescription No. 22 went on to become Noxzema® when his long time assistant produced the recipe for sale in Baltimore, MD. Unfortunately Doc Townsend never benefited from the success of his mixture. So if you see a reference to RxNo 22 in any of our company material…that’s the reason.

Now I didn’t excel in chemistry the way my Grandfather did but started blending my own concoctions in the form of beer way back in the early 80’s. It would have been a big leap back then to start a brewpub so I found another way to get in the Beer Business. Just before everyone started putting the “Craft” in beer, I had a stint in brewing on the Atlantic Coast. In 1985 I introduced “Olde Towne Ocean City Beer” and successfully sold thousands of cases in the mid-Atlantic region. We were a little early getting into the microbrew business but that hasn’t stopped us from brewing up a small batch of beer… or a business.

We may not be quite the mixologist that Doc was, but we are doing our best to come up with some remedies while working here in Texas.

While you are visiting, try one or our beers craft brewed in a single bbl brewhouse. We brew in small quantities and introduce new barrel batches almost daily. Hopefully, you will find a Barrel No. that suits you. If you don’t, let us know and we’ll likely have one for you next week.
