Today is the inaugural launch of Sages' downstairs event space! Throwing a wedding, holiday party, or just feel like boogying down by the river? Reach out! We offer full catering, just give us a ring or shoot us a message.

We're also planning to throw weekly live events - as some of you may have heard from me: "Everything but music!!" Though might very occasionally do some music... Stuff we'd love to host: stand-up, theatre, puppetry, burlesque, murder mystery dinners!? And anything else we can scrounge up.

And a reminder that, starting next week, we will be changing our days and hours to Tuesday thru Saturday, 4PM to 11PM!

Well, we're serving up a complimentary plate of antipasti and pintxos to all moms and dads from 5 to 9 tomorrow evening at our place! Swing on by and refuel on:

We've got so many cocktail recipes a-brewing over here as we prepare to overhaul both our food and drink menus for the cold seasons, and I'm here to showcase one made by myself and one of our awesome bartenders: the Smoker's Privilege.

I've been wanting to make something with Ancho Reyes (pictured above) for a minute, and what better to pair spice with than a little smoke, a la mezcal. This new concoction drinks very much like a martini, pairing mezcal with equal parts Ancho Reyes, fino sherry, and a dash of grapefruit bitters - it is spirit forward, bone dry, pleasantly spicy, with faint notes of sweet cacao and vanilla. It is garnished with - no, this isn't a typo - pork rind, for a little extra savory nibble to pair each sip.

The Smoker's Privilege isn't on our menu YET, but maybe if you come in and ask us very nicely we'll make you one...

Finally here, by popular demand: the Caipirinha!

I don't often like to shout out drinks that aren't our original creations, but this one's special to a lot of folks. The Caipirinha is a classic Brazilian drink made with cachaca, which is similar to rum. We're sporting two brands in-house at the moment, Pitu and Leblon, depending on how fancy you're feeling.

Caipirinha is a dead simple drink: half a lime and two teaspoons of Demerara (a type of unprocessed cane sugar) are muddled thoroughly in a rocks glass until dissolved, and then topped with a healthy pour of cachaca and ice.

Incredibly strong (no really) and sweet and citrusy, it's the perfect drink to finish off this perfect summer.
