"This week Stone Hill and the Held Family are remembering and honoring our very special veteran, L. James Held, who passed away Friday, November 8th, 2019 at Hermann Area District Hospital. L. James was affectionately called Jim, Big Jim or in my case, simply Dad.

In 1965 Jim and his wife, Betty Ann reopened the historic Stone Hill Winery in Hermann. This bold gamble set in motion an incredible chain of events resulting in a thriving business, a huge tourism industry for Hermann and the reemergence of a Missouri wine industry that today provides an annual $3.2 billion economic impact to the state.

His accomplishments, awards and accolades are countless ~ His love, caring and charity knew no bounds. Please join me in offering a prayer of thanks for his wonderful life and as he would have wanted a toast in his memory."
